I remember him saying that Freeze cried when he committed. That's a lot tears for only 10 total tackles from the the number one JUCO DT. Another recruiting success. I bet an OM booster cried too.

I don't think I ever heard that name even once during the regular season.

What do you expect when you put your buddies in coaching positions that may be good recruiters, but suck at coaching.

The saddest part in that whole situation is the fans buy it! I just have to shake my head in disbelief at grown men who believe this crap. Every time I hear one of the tear jerking stories I laugh at them. Isn't it amazing that every coach they get is in the "people helpin business"?

He was such a success at DT that he rode the pine and played a little TE when there freshman stud Even Engrim went down.

True, Autry not much better though

This is also true. Autry was certainly never who we thought he was when we recruited him...

Autry wasn't the difference-maker we envisioned, but he certainly contributed a lot more last year than Hooks did this year.

And Autry was also far less productive this year than he was in year 1. How could he possibly regress with Preston Smith and Chris Jones playing alongside him?

2013 stats:
Autry - 1 sack for 6 yards, 5.5 TFL for 17 yards, 30 tackles(13 solos), 3PBU, 8 QB Hurries, 1 Forced Fumble
AJ Jefferson - 1 sack for 7 yards, 3TFL for 13 yards, 18 tackles(11 solos), 1PBU, 1 QB Hurry, 1 Forced Fumble
IMO AJ was already more productive than Autry on a per-snap basis. Really wish football would start recording things that way.

Hooks - 1 sack for 5 yards, 2.5TFL for 11 yards, 10 tackles(4 solos), 1 QB Hurry
PJ Jones - 1 sack for 12 yards, 3TFL for 14 yards, 23 tackles(9 solos), 4 QB Hurry
Eulls - 0 sacks, 1.5TFL for 5 yards, 23 tackles(7 solos), 1 QB Hurry

Hooks had a very unspectacular first year this year -- but we should be careful casting this stone. Since we've got 2 4*s in their 3rd year in the program playing a lot more snaps than him -- both being in semi-regular starting roles -- without much better production from the spot.

true. forever spoiled with juco with brauchlee, vick, white, and pernell. the likelihood of getting 4, much less 1, to pan out really was astonishing.
