Didn?t realize it was even happening right now or that today is State?s day. Jeez this program is struggling right now. It?s a real shame. In fact, I haven?t heard much about media days at all. Maybe I?m just too checked out.

They moved it from Birmingham and killed the vibe. Several Mississippi Sports Journalists didn't even order credentials. It's a dog and pony get together where mostly Writers and Scribes from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, (Baton Rouge) and Texas gather to vote for the same Top 6 or 7 every year and the Assistant to the Assistant Sports Information Director cast the Coach's votes for the Poll! I'd be much more impressed with the old Sportswriters BUS tour of all 16 campuses and Practices. Wasn't it called the SEC Skywriters Tour?

The media at SEC media days are ridiculous. A number of questions to Lebby were about other SEC programs or players that have left our program and gone other places (like Van Buren and Craver). That's just awful.

What did Lebby say to that question?

I would have wanted him to say I'm not concerned about them. I'm here to talk about my team. Do you have any questions about MY TEAM?

Said they were good players on the field and that's the extent of the comments. If people are wanting any kind of insight once they get in the main room then you are just dreaming and hoping. Anything of substance you might hear will be when they're on Digital Drive, which used to be called Radio Row. That's where they'll meet with WJOX, SuperTalk, etc and actually talk about their teams. Once they get into the main room it's 10% of reporters asking questions they want an answer to and 90% of reporters wanting a soundbite for social media.

Yea, he was much more gracious with answering those questions than I would have been although his answers were quite brief. I would like to see the reaction if our media guys asked Venebles, Smart or Kiffin about players that have transferred from them to us.

Two of Shapen’s questions were about Coleman and Craver by Missouri and aTm media members.

It was early on known as the Skywriters Tour because the media toured the various SEC campuses in a WWII vintage DC-3, or something very similar.
