Don't we play in a round robin tourney at the Rangers' new ballpark next Feb./March? Anybody know the official name of it?......and if you know the dates, could you post it.

With three weekend tournaments I have a feeling that MSU is going to be a regular in Dallas and Houston.

As we should be. Between Dallas, Frisco, and Houston you should be playing games out here every year.

UCLA will be a good test. They'll be preseason Top 10 next year.

And a lot of us fans here to enjoy it and where a lot of our recruits come from

And it gives us exposure in the DFW metroplex and Houston metroplex that we could use to start recruiting more of those students. Living out here now, it's incredible how much untapped potential is out here for Mississippi State. Because these kids would feel the same way about Starkville if we sold it the way Ole Miss sells Oxford to these kids out here. Basically by the time they actually go to campus when they're juniors or seniors to tour, they have been inundated from an info standpoint about how Oxford is this Mississippi oasis. They're told about the Velvet Ditch, The Square, The Grove, etc. and they go in with this notion that Oxford, while not big, is going to absolutely be everything they want in a college experience. Not that hard for us to start selling that dream too. But Lee Hall would rather us recruit Clarksdale Lee than Southlake Carrol and Allen.

Every family I know from Texas that visits campus for a potential academic enrollment is honestly blown away. It always moves up their list at that time. If MSU was closer to Texas it would be huge.

But Ole Miss is no closer than Starkville, so why are they flocking to OM in droves? Because OM has focused on those out of state areas and has changed the perception. We on the other hand don't even attempt to do it. We're happy recruiting in state kids who were probably going to come to Mississippi State anyways, and honestly we don't do that well with those kids either. Our student recruitment sucks. Every kid you ask, in state and out, who considers Mississippi State will tell you that other schools bombard them with mail and they MIGHT get a postcard from Mississippi State once.

The Amegy Bank College Baseball Series returns to Globe Life Field February 27 – March 1, 2026!
Went last time we were there. Really super nice ballpark. No where full so basically could sit anywhere you want. I sat/stayed for several games we weren’t even playing in. Sat right behind home plate. One game sat one row below the MLB scouts that were there and there was a bunch there. Talked baseball to them, some interesting conversations.
If ice storm happens two days or the day before do NOT attempt to go! Our trip on Friday took us almost 12hrs to get to Ft.Worth. Had wife, teenage granddaughter(which later in life became an MSU cheerleader) and 90lb golden retriever dog in the car for 12hrs was just about more than any human could stand.

It was a pain in the ass to get out here. I was still living in North Mississippi at the time and was snowed/iced in from Sunday on that week. My flight was supposed to leave Memphis at like 5 AM on Friday and got cancelled. The next flight they tried to get me on also got cancelled. Ended up driving to Birmingham and flying out of there Saturday morning and made it to Globe Life in the 2nd inning of the Texas game.

Yikes. When you yell, "Be still and shut up!" nobody knows if you are talking to the wife, granddaughter or the dog.

I remember when USC/UCLA had a tournament in Los Angeles where you played them both at their home stadium and then you played them on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. They should bring that back and do it again.
Also bring back the Winn-Dixie Showdown in New Orleans! MSU vs. NOLA! LSU, Tulane, and UNO! It always seemed like we won our share from LSU at the Superdome.
I've been wanting the Biloxi Shuckers to do an in state baseball tournament with MSU, Ole Miss, and USM as hosts playing three other random teams like Florida State, Clemson, and Georgia Tech or something like that.

That was a great pre-conference weekend of baseball. You could alternate between New Orleans and Biloxi each year.
