couple of options out there the last I heard. Couple are tied in because of the Virginia ties with Arroyo and Godbout. Arroyo is a 2 way player and a huge draft risk. Godbout played 2nd but could easily slide over to SS. The biggest name that I hear as a possibility is the SS from Call State Fullerton Maddox Latta.
LHP Loy from Tennessee is a player to look out.

It's going to come down to MLB signing bonus vs MSU NIL. If Godbout comes to MSU I'm sure it would be to play SS. He almost immediately entered the portal when Becker announced he was returning to Virginia. But he would be very expensive NIL wise because he has a 2nd-3rd round draft grade. He would be turning down a million dollars and lose draft leverage to come here. Latta is draft eligible but doesn't have nearly as high a draft ranking. I think he would be expensive to get but way cheaper than Godbout. Arroyo is in the same boat and we might as well include Bevis, Stallman, Valincious, and Frei in the boat with him. I wouldn't turn down Arroyo but I like the idea of maybe using Frei at first base if we get him back. I think he could have a monster year if he plays more than half a season.

If we hadn't hired BOC and upped our NIL commitment it would have made a lot more sense given the way Reese raised his value this past season. But at this point I think it's just FOMO for a lot of these guys even when they don't really have a good reason to get in the portal.
I just know I've never been less emotionally invested in MSU sports and all college sports in my entire life. Im getting the same indifferent vibe I have for the most part toward pro sports. Sure, I will watch games, but winning or losing doesn't really impact me like it used to, especially college ootball. The guys playing now can barely even qualify as 'college students'. Tanner is no longer the AD at USC, as of last December. Jeremiah Donati is now the AD, but regardless of who is in the spot - boosters call the shots.

Did not know that. The guy I talked to back in May just said they made it clear to the AD, I guess I assumed Tanner was still the AD.

LoL. As far as recruiting, it wasn?t Bucket Coach, His hitting Coach was the guy. The deal is, the reason we got money was because of the hire getting BOC. Bucket wouldn?t have received what BOC was gifted. Mainly because BOC is a blue blood Coach. Also I will be surprised if Bucket gets a SEC HC job. He was way over weight??.i mean over rated. LOL

I was going to say- it would be surprising if South Carolina hired a guy with the same profile as Manieri essentially.

I'm just not sure that Lemonis is detail oriented enough to coach in the SEC. He needs to be at the Citadel where he can take them to regionals.

I hope they hire Lemon and Fox and destroy themselves forever. I like USCe fans but vaporizing an SEC rival is always a good thing. They already have Coastal and Clemson making them irrelevant, adding Fox is almost overkill.

That's true.

I could also see Lemonis at a Big 10 school as well. He wasn't up to our standards here but somewhere like Illinois or Ohio State what he did would be fine. Plus he has had success at Indiana so that would make him attractive in that conference as well not to mention the fact that he has a NC. It's not like he completely tanked it here or anything.

Yeah. I don't think they will have much problem replacing Manieri. They've been down so long they may have to take a chance on someone like an Elander or an assistant like that. I could see them pulling someone like Tom Walter though. They really need a slam dunk that will work because they have made now three coaching decisions that didn't work out for them.

Really wish it could have worked out for Lemonis. Liked him personally and he looked like the real deal his first 3 years. Certainly something was lacking though in his evaluation and development of HS talent and the overall development of players within the program with regards to fundamentals. Only the portal salvaged something decent out of the last 2 seasons after the disasters of 2022 and 2023. Anyway, hope he lands on his feet somewhere but I would be shocked if he got another HC gig in the SEC. Certainly appreciate those within the fanbase that stepped up though that let us land BOC. On paper, the best hire in the history of the school from a resume standpoint.

Ace and McPherson were the only two from State that made it. Ace is hitting over .300 but the power is somewhat missing while McPherson has a strong ERA.

Interesting to see the following teams with multiple players: Arky (3), UCLA, NC, NC St, UVA, GaTech, OR St & L'ville all with 2 each. Also interesting that teams like LSU, Tenn, Tex, aTm, OM, Vandy, FSU didn't have any players on the team.

I want to make something clear about my take on Bucket Coach, good guy, as far as 34 saying he understood my take because of my grandson. My grandson never said anything bad to me about Bucket Coach, BUT I have had conversions with my "family member" about his ability in the clubhouse and a few other matters.

I do not know about that. We were confusing in 2020. We had lost a series to LBSU and lost a midweek to Texas Southern. But we were also coming off a 2 game sweep of Texas Tech in Biloxi. The Arkansas series would have told us a ton about our team. Our starters would have most likely been McLeod Game 1, David Dunlavey in Game 2, and either Cerrantola or Chase Patrick Game 3. We probably would have inserted Harding the next week because he had just thrown in Biloxi.

Our lineup that year was rediculous. Foscue, Westy, Tanner (he did get hurt i believe), Rowdy, the catcher had pop and struck fear in base stealers, among others. Also had Sims and Bednar in the bullpen. Probably didnt have the pitching to get it done, but the line up before tanner got hurt was among our most talented in history.
