It seems like the tea leaves are reading that neither will be retained.
So to Justin Parker, you saved Lem's ass in your first year and saved our ass in your second. Just a hell of a job from day 1 turning around the staff and then righting the ship and getting us to postseason play. You took Jurrangelo to another level, you found something no one saw in Khal Stephen, you made a closer out of Tyson Hardin, and you never gave up on Karson Ligon and he proved you right yesterday. Don't know where the coaching world will drop you but I know you won't be out of work long. A tip of the cap for a job well done.
As for Jake, he was there for everything. Through 4 staffs, 3 CWS appearances, a national championship, more injuries than you can imagine in a season, and getting robbed of a regional host there has been one constant. Jake Gautreau. I have never seen a non MSU graduate embrace Mississippi State and the traditions the way Jake did. And he fought his ass off for this program and those kids til the very last out, he literally went out guns blazing. For that, we will never be able to repay him. He recruited at an elite level and found guys who could contribute and contribute a lot at the highest level. Yea the chest beating was corny at times, but it taught us we were never out of the fight. So to Jake, Thank You. Thank you for everything and thank you for sticking by Mississippi State.

It worked for them. For some it doesn't. Jake loved it though. Loved raising his kids here. We all know Starkville is special if you let it be. You just have to get people here to realize that. We got Jake here and he realized that. I did not have the relationship with Parker that I did with Jake, but from all accounts he loved it and wanted to stay here for a long time.

A definite sense of appreciation! To Parker, Gotro and Cheese. In my mind they were so awesome at times! Wherever you guys go I hope you realize how much you were appreciated by the M over S fan base thru out the years.
Edited to say: Starkville is a great place and it doesn?t fit some lifestyles. But for some it is light years away from the crime, traffic and hustle and bustle of large metropolitan cities. Small towns have their disadvantages but imo the advantages out way the disadvantages. And you will not find a genuine friendlier people than Starkville Ms. I wish MSU and Starkville would market this in a large way. And would say to all those other SEC fans that continually put us down, call us Hicksville and say how could anyone live there, don?t knock it until you have tried it!

Yes, thanks to both of those guys and their families for all of their contributions to the program. They are both great guys and this is tough because we've never really had to make a change at the top of our baseball program due to poor performance. The change was needed but this is part of the fallout when you do, that being assistants not being retained. Don't think any of these guys will be on the market long though with their resumes and I wish bith of them the very best.

Those 2 should never have to pay for another meal in Starkville. They both gave everything to the program and I'm thankful for them! It would've been so easy just to mail it in, but they righted this ship, got us to .500 in sec play(miracle!) and got us to the post season and a regional final. They battled for Dear Ol' State and I will always be thankful for their efforts! Thank you to Coach Parker, Goat, Cheese and the whole staff for keeping it together when it could've all fallen apart!

Cheese is an interesting one. I liked Kyle as a person. He's a really good dude and the players liked him a lot. However, we had far too many baserunning mistakes for a D1 baseball team, much less an SEC baseball team. And unfortunately for Kyle, he's the one at 3B directing the runners. I mean Kyle damn near cost us the Virginia game in Omaha in 21 by holding Hatcher and almost getting Rowdey thrown out trying to get back to 2B. Thankfully UVA had no one covering 2B or Rowdey is hosed.

I don't think so. I think this is just emotional MSU fans. He didn't manage the regional very well, nor did he recruit well enough. Good guy and above average pitching coach right now. He's got a ways to go. I think Gotro will be a pretty decent HC if he what's to do it.

That might be the best play for him. A&M could very well come open next year. He can also get income from Boras and doing private lessons if he wanted too.

Had MSU gone to Hattiesburg, would have won that regional. Beat Miami (Pico), Columbia (Davis), USM (Siary), Ligon Rested.
Would be vs Louisville for the Super. Toss up to Omaha.
I think MSU would have won the North Carolina and Clemson regionals too.

Well based on his history at Virginia plus the fact that he now has more resources to use than ever I would say it would be safe to assume that the odds of him recruiting well at MSU are really high.
And really the only time I remember MSU not recruiting well was during Polk 2 and that was just because Polk was outdated and stubborn at that time as far as recruiting goes.

Getting fired as a baseball coach isn't like getting fired from our regular jobs. Those guys move around a lot more. They know if the team is making changes what is going to happen and they have a lot of connections where they will find a job probably in a matter of weeks.
Plus- Lemonis was paid like what? 1.something million since 2021 I think. Unless he has completely mismanaged his money he should be able to take a year off or more if he wanted to and still live pretty comfortably. He'll probably easily find a head coaching job if he wanted to. Wouldn't surprise me if he found one this offseason. Wouldn't surprise me if he is just waiting out South Carolina either because I doubt Manieri is going to be there for long. He will be a splash hire for someone like The Citadel or the College of Charleston. He'll have options. And Gautreau and Parker will have plenty of options. Gautreau could probably make a couple of phone calls and get hired by A&M right now. He could get a head coaching job if he wanted to as well. ULM? And Parker is one of the better pitching coaches in the SEC. There's always demand for that and he might also get a head coaching job as well. Cheese might have to do baseball lessons or something or try to find another coaching job until he can link back up with Lemonis.

Have you seen what VA has done under him in the draft? And Muscara is an elite recruiter already at a school without our resources. Did you see our portal failures under Parker this past year? Name all the HS talent Jake sent to the league the last three years. It's slim outside portal guys. We've stopped developing any HS hitters (Jordan was already a draft guy). We just hired a hitting coach who has more this year than Geaut has had in three years.
You acting like we didn't just hire one of the top staffs in college ball is crazy. Even if Parker stayed onboard, it would still be great.

Look, we needed a change regardless of what assistant is let go. Hey I wish all the best of luck, but right now they are free agents and whatever they go go luck. I trust our new HC way more than losing an assistant. I like both Parker and Gotr, but i think we will be fine replacing both.

That is part of the job with these guys and they know the risk they run. Sure they are big State guys while here but if another program flashes money or comes calling after they are let go, I promise they will put on an Ole Miss, LSU, or another programs jersey in a flat second.
I know people feel these guys are all emotionally attached to their team but the fact is, they really arent and they know it is a job. Jake or anyone else will have on another jersey in no time and be coaching a team that is possibly trying to ruin States chance of going to a post season bid or something else? and he will be super excited and congratulate his team if they are successful in doing so.
Remember, it is a job and they want to get paid.

Jake had just been through so much with us. I think that's the connection people have to him. He, Gary, Mike, and AJ guided us through that 2018 season and he was the one that stayed and saw the goal that Andy set before us to completion. Like yea we have a connection with Chris and Kyle too but Jake was there even before them. Jake was there at 2-7 in SEC play and 14-15 overall. I think that's the connection. He was there at the worst and the message was keep fighting for that fanbase.

Well then you may be disappointed. Because it doesn't seem like the consternation is on his side. Seems like it's on ours and that usually means someone else is in the running for the job and may have a leg up. And to echo what you and others have said, I will trust O'Connor on this one. He may like Parker's SEC experience.
And look, it could just be a contract language thing we are working through and we announce him tomorrow night.

BOC can run things how he wants. Parker would be fine if Muscara isn't the guy. But he better start finding talent and fast because we won't have much pitching talent left Parker stays around and Muscara isn't bringing recruits. I like Parker, I just think he struggled getting talent and pulling pitchers in a bind.

I wonder if thats a Parker thing or if thats pitching recruits looking at Lemonis and knowing they would be coming to play for a team that wouldn?t compete for anything. If it?s purely about pitching you?d have to think Parker?s track record is attractive. But im not a 20 year old D1 pitcher so who knows

The good news is Wake Forest has a bunch of pitchers that entered the portal. They could be waiting to see if he gets a head coaching job. I wouldn't think they would do that if he told them that going back to Wake Forest was an option
I find it hard to believe that Parker is going to stay personally. He likes autonomy and with O'Connor being a pitching guy and involved with the pitchers some I'm not sure he will be down with that.
There is a possibility it is neither one of them.

What I hope then is that with O'Connor can help him with his management of the pitching staff. I feel like Parker let some things get out of hand at times this season by trying to steal innings and not recognizing that his pitcher doesn't have it soon enough.

I think a lot of that may have been because our pitching staff was so thin this season. The regional showed just how few dependable options we had, especially after Hungate was lost. With more reliable options available he would likely be willing to swap out pitchers more quickly.

I like the idea of keeping Parker. Being around a new and motivated staff will defintely shake off any bad energy from being under Lemonis. You can't argue with what he did last year. What is the explanation for this year? We had some injuries and portal misses last summer, but how much of that is on Parker?
Even if we got Muscara, it would have been a one year deal. He will be a HC somewhere by next summer.
