I noticed on the HailState.com website that Williams recorded a save in last night's game. I was wondering if anybody on the board could explain this.

One of the criteria for getting a save is pitching 3 or more innings and maintaining the lead regardless of score. Nate went 3 innings and got the save based on that.

If the game was within the requirements for a save when he enters he still gets credit regardless of how many runs are scored after the fact. I just didn't think it was close enough to qualify.

The 3 inning rule for a save is how he got the save. If you go 3 or more innings the score doesn't matter. It's kinda crazy but that's one of the criteria for gaining a save

The 3 inning rule for a save is kinda weird. You could come in and pitch the 7-9th with your team up by 100 runs and still qualify for a save lol.
