I would be happy with either of those 3.
Giving any of those guys top 5 money and a program, along with their fire to win would be the recipe we really need. Actually Fitz and Coggin bring the fire for that

Just my guess at what our potential list looks like at this moment:

1. Erik Bakich
2. Dan Fitzgerald
3. Skip Johnson
4. Chris Pollard
5. Will Coggin

Unless he is putting on the greatest smoke screen of all time, the job doesn't get past Fitzgerald. He has had people calling on his behalf for almost a month now. I do think we view him higher than Skip due to his recruiting success and his overachieving at Kansas. I think we are making a mistake not talking to Wasikowski, but it seems that is the direction we are going. I personally would value him a bit over Fitzgerald but Fitzgerald has southern recruiting ties and SEC experience at a place like us since he was an asst at LSU.

Not too completely get lost on a different tangent, but it is incredible how the list of potential coaches has changed in a year. If this was last year, Justin Haire would be candidate 1A, 1B, and 1C. A year later and he has just went 13-37 in his first season at Ohio St. Do I think that means he would've failed here? I don't know. But I do think it shows that fit and resources matter.

BOC was more a pipe dream coach, but I do not see him being a realistic hire. He has been at UVA for a long time and I see him retiring there as long as UVA gives him what he is asking. His agents might be putting his name out there for a pay raise or more NIL, but I ultimately see him staying at UVA. I see Pollard as the much more realistic hire if we get a coach from the ACC. Skip Johnson might come depending on what we promise him, but not sure he will leave OU for State. I think we end up with Pollard, Coggin or Fitzgerald

Pollard? Meh and happy at Duke
Johnson? Embarrassingly easy jokes on Selmon/OU
Coggin? We really missed if it gets to him
Fitz? More likely
Walter? Maybe, but he's Walter(s) here
BOC? Smoke or smoke screen
Bakich? Zero chatter there

That is a somewhat sobering thought. You just never know how any coaching change is going to play out in the long term.

Going to be fun watching fans talk themselves into some questionable hires

Haire would have had the correct lineup in February, and so would some others hired last year. He is good with good resources it seems

I think 50% of our fans talked themselves into O’Conner or bust. The fallout could be legendary. The d!ldo of consequences rarely comes lubed.

Haire shows how risky mid major hires can be. I wouldn't be surprised if he is successful at Ohio State over the years though.

If OSU decided to be good in baseball, they could give him the money in a day. You are right, it might be over the years type thing to bring in the support for players and win

This seems to be the perfect time for us to hire a new coach so if we don't hit, it will be sobering. Personally, I don't think BOC is a fit here. He would have been Bianco's replacement.

I'm fine with Fitzgerald. Hell, I'm good with Elander.
