So glad Selmon made the change, as I stated a long time ago we got lazy and wasn't Msu Baseball. Great seeing a coaching change in small town StarkVegas........ Funny how a few were all hyped up with our Bucket Coach and blaming Starkville!
Been great not reading ED, some have way too many excuses for a lazy ex Coach! Hey he got paid so I don't feel sorry for him, I do think he is a good person but not a Sec Coach. Luck counts thou!!

Base - more of us should have paid attention to what you were really saying a couple of years ago (mostly by you saying you couldn't say anything lol).

Well some start rumours that are just rumours. And some say many of us don't know baseball. But a change was much needed, now this next hire is really important.

In Base we trust. You were on the Fox situation before everyone else.
Lemons needing 1.5 seasons to jettison that Dude was insane and inexcusable.

Lemonis told a story about one of his early practices where he kicked everyone out of the park and sent them home b/c they were having a bad practice. He later called TA and asked him if he was too hard on the players. I had my doubts after hearing that story. I understand going to your leaders, but that doesn't seem like a good spot to do it.
I played for an alpha/borderline psychopath in juco. He kicked us off the field a few times, but he didn't send us home. We ran forever. There was no way that dude was asking anyone, much less a player if he was too hard on us.

I'm surprised TA hasn't gone off on Selmon for firing his boy! He loved him some CL!

I think even he realized that the move needed to be made for the best interests of the baseball program. With that said, while I love how Tanner was part of the core that got us a title, he should not have any influence over who they hire. His anti-analytics diatribe sealed that for me.

Yeah, love the TA the player, but TA the former player doesn't hold much weight when it comes to his thoughts and opinions.

Didn't want to post this while all this failure with Lemonis was ongoing, but I have a relative who was a very successful player at State. He was only with Lemonis one year. I asked him at church recently if Lemonis was lazy. He looked around and sheepishly replied, "Let's just say, he was not very energetic." I think this or perhaps wanting to be a soft hands off CEO type showed badly after the NC.

TA the player was incredible. TA the former player needs to shut the hell up. His "I love Mississippi State as much as anyone" crap sealed it for me. Like dude you went here for 4 years. A lot of us have sat through: The Rick Ray error, losing to Maine, losing to Tulane, losing to Troy State, 3-2, end of Polk/beginning of Cohen, etc. He's no different than the "fans" who showed up in football from 14-18 and the baseball "fans" that showed up from 19-22.
As you can tell, I do not like him. He acted, and still acts, like Will Clark and had a 1/3 of the talent. Will can act like a grade A jackass because he's 17 Will Clark. Tanner Allen hit below the Mendoza line in AA.

For u guys posting, thanks. I quit posting mostly because it was nonsense with some talking about some don't know coaching or baseball plus it makes my skin crawl with blaming Small town StarkVegas as the problem. The problem always starts with the coach, u get a coach who is driven he attracts players and money.
Whoever takes over will have to rebuild from ground up. The fans and the Dude are very unique in what has been built with tradition. Lastly, I saw sec network The Rally Cap last night. David Delucia summed up MSU baseball in saying with our fans and tradition we expect more and we were not getting it under the ex coach.
U guys take care. Glad I have a few friends on ED. MSU Baseball will be back and compete. We ain't going away like a few have stated

At the end of the day- Lemon is responsible for the program and this team was expected to perform. It hasnt lived up to expectations. This past weekend guys that had not performed in clutch situations did perform in clutch situations. We still had Parker running the pitching. We still had Cheese coaching 3rd. We still had GoTro talking to the hitters. Hopefully the questions around the program have unburdened what has been and we keep playing better baseball. No excuse for this team to not make a Regional.
There is always excitement in coaching searches. Some of the problems in today's SEC are still going to be there. I hope like hell we can hold on to Reese and McPh because they are going to be offered alot of money to wear a new jersey. I hope we find the funding for additional staff to put us on par with the top programs.

Remember TA was not recruited by Lemonis. He also has very little real power outside of his opinion. He's not a multi millionaire MLB player that can donate a ton of money. Highly suspect most of the board makes more than TA.

And it needs to stay that way. I don't mind the guys that have competed and succeeded at the HIGHEST level and then deciding to give their opinion with a check as well. Guys like Raffy, Papelbon, Rooker, Thigpen, Brantley, Frazier, and Maholm are well entitled to their opinion and the power they wield because that opinion usually comes with at least a 5 figure check. I didn't include Will because Will doesn't really give us money. If he did we would listen though.
However, and this is kind of in flows into my diatribe on how this downturn in the program started that I have repeated ad nauseam since July 2021, some in our fanbase have turned some of these players into folk heroes and given them voices that far outweigh their talents. Tanner Allen is the prime example of that. We had people cheering Tanner Allen on for going after people on Twitter after we won the national championship.

We wouldn't have a Natty without TA so he will always have that. That's more than any of the rest of us or any booster can say.

We would not have a national championship without Will Bednar or Landon Sims. Those two won us that CWS.
Will Bednar- 18.1, 22Ks, 3 ER
Landon Sims- 8.2, 14Ks, 1 ER

It amazes me people forget Bednar turned into Superman went 3-0 in Omaha. I guess its because he was a Lemon recruit that they forget that

21 of those Ks came in game 1 setting CWS record for a game. Bednar was in a zone.

Bednar was a top 5 pitcher on the planet for a two week stretch. I do not think we will ever seen anything like that again. Bednar went to a place that only about 2% of pitchers can go to.

Obviously. But without TA we don't even make the CWS. He was the Alfa leader.

You told me that Lemonis didn't coach pitching. All credit to Foxhall.
TA is a good dude. I?m not sure why the hate. I haven?t seen him say we shouldn?t have fired Lemonis
I could see him coaching as well, he?s definitely a good hitting coach. And if you listen to him talk, he?s not anti-analytics. He?s anti it controlling the majority of baseball. It needs to be a balance.
There are certain things that just can?t be measured.

That wind in the first texsa game was hilarious.
The back foot slider in the champ game was the moment i knew we were getting another special pitching performance. If we'd have let him go the distance he'd have thrown a no hitter, I have no doubt.

The back foot slider is still just absolutely incredible. He literally made the guy swing at a pitch that hit him.

That's what you have to have to win a NC. The hottest pitcher in the CWS. For once it was one of our guys. And we had the best closer as well. Those two things.
Tanner Allen also hit the biggest home run in MSU history and Tanner Leggett had the biggest hit in MSU history as well.
You know, the funny thing about baseball is I think once a team has achieved something it makes it easier to achieve IMO because the National Championship monkey is off of our back now. I think that's a big reason why we lost in 2013 even though we had a better team than UCLA. Our guys you could tell were pressing because they knew winning a NC would be the biggest thing in MSU sports history at that time.
I think that's gradually happened with MSU. We made it to Omaha in 1971. Then we won a game in 1979. Then we had the best team there in 1985 and finished 3rd. Then we made the finals in 2013. Then we won it all in 2021.
So, maybe we will something similar to that. At least similar enough to win it again.
