I'm not 100% convinced Lem is done, but we're close... So...

With all the changes coming in for college baseball (scholarship numbers, Title IX/DEI rollbacks, salary cap, etc...) and the game moving more towards a semi-pro model, should we be looking across existing colleges for our next guy or would there be benefits to hiring an MLB guy at this point? Also, do we need to hire a GM?

I want younger with a chip on their shoulder. Energy. Juice

Def need a GM in all the big 3 sports. Somebody that works with Charlie and spends their Spring watching players from all over for portal evals come June. Baseball staff focuses on team and opponents. Between all the practice and game video- plenty of things for the staff to be doing to get ready and no time for portal evals. GM can everything ready to be studied and decided on immediately once the season ends and the dealing begins

Will Selmon spend for a GM in baseball?
With the payment structure moving in house, it's a matter of time before baseball teams will have a GM.

And I don't think a MLB guy or a young guy is necessary. Just get the best coach available that will come for what we are willing to pay. If he's older like schlos, so be it. If he's younger like a 2019 version of Vitello, so be it.

With every year being unlimited free agency, a GM is almost a must.

We need evaluators who can locate and target who we need and project how they'll translate here. Let the coaches develop and manage. Let the GM evaluate.

As for the next coach, it needs to be someone who has a competitive edge. Doesn't have to be a complete asshole (I'd prefer them be) but we can't have another coach that can't embrace the expectations here.

Do we trust Selmon to hire a baseball coach?

Is Selmon still alive?

Yea you need a GM at this point. I would honestly give Ed Easley a call and see if you could get him to do it. It'd most definitely be a paycut, but he might help us for a couple of years. That guy knows every corner of the high school and competitive baseball world at this point. And it would piss off Tim Dulin, which would be an added bonus.

I also agree that we need to get back to IB HCs. Trying to be everyone's friend does not work at in major college athletics. I am not saying you have to refuse to sign autographs for little kids and tell our fans they are losers, but we need a little bit of that Dan Mullen 09 and Cohen 08-16 intensity again.

Highly motivated guy with great attention to detail.
Embraces and excels at HS recruiting AND the transfer portal.
Knows how to build a roster with tough players who thrive under pressure.
Has the ability to bring quality assistants with the same mindset.
No trips to Omaha on his resume.**
