Wow sad news. He was a good dude. Guess I'm getting old; so many icons of my era passing on.

He was one of the greats of the golden age of heavyweight boxing (which was the 1970's and early 80's). Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Shavers, Spinks, Holmes, Etc........Boxing was big time back then............Hell, we could even watch the championship fights on TV with an antenna........

Dude can't believe you left out the greatest boxer, for his weight, Sugar Ray Leonard.

Sugar Ray is my all time favorite boxer. And I'm a huge boxing fan.
I loved Big George!!! Loved watching him KO Michael Moorer for the Championship. He was a great dude too.

Never will forget in mid 80’s Big George was at Books A Million for his book signing. I went to see him and get a photo or autograph. (I have both with Ali). Anyway Big George is signing Books for buying customers. I’m standing about10 feet behind him when this big ole redneck man walks up wearing blue Jean bibs and tells George “you might can eat more chicken than me but no way you can eat more hamburgers”? It was laughter from GF and he looked at him and said u probably could. Back in the day GF was making lots tv ads for KFC. It was so funny seeing GF and his kindness to everyone that day.

Watch this clip of Big George from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Tells Johnny the only boxer he ever feared (wasn't Ali) and then his classic line, "I hope not"........
