Johnnie was a fantastic assistant. I think it’ll just be hard to win at auburn.

Not only will he interview him, he'll hire him. Hope Selmon is beginning his search now. Purcell is as good as gone.

I would interview Kellie Harper. She has been HC at 3 universities and I think she was 108-52 at Tn.
Should be interesting the coming days.

She is pretty impressive to listen to her breaking down games on the Sec network.

Sam will get an interview. I think they are swinging a bit bigger than Sam though.
If I had to create a list at this moment, Molly Miller at GCU would top it.

This is already being talked about on Twitter. According to a poster, Purcell may be interested in Auburn if he gets interviewed, and we would look at getting GCU's Head coach. Apparently she has her team at 27-2... again, just rumors that I read on Twitter

I would take GCU's coach over Sam right now. I'm honestly not sure why Auburn would be interested in Sam

Purcell is already being named on a short list of replacements. Part of me would hate to see him leave because he has had a little success and recruits well. Yes his coaching is questionable at times but who could we get to keep us relevant?

Because of Cohen who hired him at State and Sam's history with Auburn being a graduate and student assistant. If offered I have a feeling Purcell would take it

Because Cohen is a low IQ mouth breather. That’s why.

I spoke with someone who has a family member on Sam's staff. Seems his staff coaches and he recruits. That's in practice anyway

I would put the chances of Kellie Harper, and her husband/assistant coach, accepting an offer to come to MSU as akin to my flying to the moon under my own power. The FL GCU coach ain't coming either; we need to be more realistic here.

It's all about money. For coaching and nil plus facilities. We have people who put big money, comparatively, for women's basketball. They may not plan on being her long term but Vic showed that you could win here at the highest level. I have no doubt we can get a relatively big fish. Finding one that would stay is another story. I hope that we do well in women's basketball but I hope we don't get to the point again where our women's team overshadows our men's. When I went to men's games back when Vic was here, I was told the students went to the women's game, that's why there weren't ever very many, compared to when I was in school, during the men's games.

No. Just absolutely no. That would be about like when we hired Rick Ray. Not even the lead asst. Some of y'all really need to let go with the love affair of that family. They left, and she was a big part of the reason they left. And no, it had nothing to do with some kind of clandestine affair with a player. Vic wanted to make her an asst and Cohen balked at it because she didn't have the best reputation around town.

You could almost triple the GCU coach's salary and still be paying her what we are paying Sam. You're obviously not going to go get a big fish, but you can get a really good coach for 550-700K

Exactly, and we actually are one of the few schools in the country that will pack a WBB game if we are good. We are a good job in WBB, obviously not top tier but a tier below

Some of the names I have seen are just absolutely STUPID. Some of the best:
1. Vic Schaefer-he likes it here and will take a paycut. Him coming back here is less likely than him taking the Auburn job.
2. Blair Schaefer-No reason other than her last name is Schaefer. Pay no attention to the fact that she's never been a lead asst, much less a HC. I'm sure that won't matter. We've hired third assts before and Rick Ray turned out great!
3. Missy Bilderback-Look I like Missy a lot. I think she's a hell of a coach. Had she not stayed at PCS for as long as she did, she'd probably be at a really good G5 or mid tier P4 program by now. Unfortunately she didn't and she's 32-33 at ULM. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. And the step up from that level to this one is not for the faint of heart. She would struggle mightily.
4. Doug Novak-No. Just no. I get the team played hard for him, but he interviewed and didn't get the job. He had a chance to present a plan and didn't. He also has not gotten a HC job since so apparently we weren't the only one's not impressed with him.
5. Victoria Vivians-Again pay no attention to the fact that she's literally just a volunteer asst for us. Might be a great coach in 10 years, but not now.

If he's healthy and wants to coach again, Matthew Miller would be a great fit. He did great things at Kentucky.

Matthew is the call you definitely have to make. I think it is probably a 10-15% chance he wants to coach again, but you have to make the call. He also is going to have to understand we cannot pay him what Kentucky was paying him at the end.

Can't see him ever coaching again, he has been out for a while, not sure how he would handle all this NIL stuff. As far as Purcell, I think he would be interested in Auburn but I'm not sure he would be the number 1 target which means nothing. If he is offered, he will probably take it. He is just a good average Coach, not great but not bad. It seems our team plays hard but not hard enough in 4 quarters, that is a sign for being soft which reflects to coaching. If you look at really good coaches, they tend to be aggressive with getting on players for mistakes or faults.
