Seems like threads and posts are very heavy here regarding baseball. I wondered what Elitedawgs favorite sports are 1-3. Mine are as follows:
1. Football (wags the dog$ in so many other sports). Family has had season tickets, 8 to 12 for about 57 consecutive years.
2. Men's Basketball (Makes a little $ I am told). Go to all home games with a generous friend or buy individual tickets
3. Baseball (breaks even some year$ ?). Go to some home games with my friend but watch them all if televised or streamed.
Note: I noticed that there was not even a thread for the WBB game against TX and even with the return of Vic the upper bowl was about empty. I admit that even with being at my son's apartment in Starkville that I only watched some of it on TV.

1. Football
2. Baseball
3. Basketball
Honestly, 3 could be anything we are doing well in at that moment. I don’t care particularly for basketball. Just MSU basketball.

This board is 100 percent a baseball message board. The midweek game threads against directional schools get longer than basketball ones against Kentucky. We undoubtedly have a bunch of baseball nerds among our fanbase.
That being said, mine are

2 Football

Future(when Jans leaves)-
Baseball, Basketball, Football
I already gave up on football since we have no chance whatsoever going forward. Not interested in hoping for a bowl birth once a decade.
It is going to be bad when Lemonis is the face of State coaches

I watched WBB when we were a top 5 team because I liked Vic but have not since because I am not going to spend valuable time watching humans do something me and 4 of my friends could beat them by 40 in. Harsh but true.

1. Football. Will always be number 1 as well.
2. Basketball. Was number 1 for me for a long time but the Ray era kind of killed it.
3. Baseball. I do not like the baseball only fans so that has always soured baseball for me.

I'm actually surprised I don't see more people with Baseball as #1. It seems like every time I get on the board, Baseball threads are near the top. I enjoy the occasional Baseball game and will pull for our guys when I see them play but it's hard for anything to come close to March madness and Saturday football. Both of those are unmatched for me.

In this environment baseball is the only sport we have a chance to compete at the highest level. Probably always been the case but now even moreso.

1. Baseball - Favorite time of the year with spring coming and we can actually compete unlike any of the others.
2. Football is in a free fall currently. Don?t really expect a reserve shoot to appear for us either.
3. Basketball could climb up but this year?s team won?t be the team that does it for me.

Of the three sports I have season tickets for and miss few games in person, my favorites (most enjoyable) for the actual games in order are: baseball, softball, and football. Basketball is fun in tournament time, but I just can’t get into it during the regular season; the games start too late for my old ass to attend in person. Lol

This is THE CORRECT answer. For many years, we were known only because of our baseball program.
With that said, football is always king and pays the bills, even though it's dying a fast death.
Basketball is an afterthought and something to kill the time as we are never competitive there either.

I was football first until 2020- so about 50 years worth. The Wingbone followed up by NIL and constant free agency with the circus its created has killed my love of college football. Alot of people have climbed into that boat.
We have sucked for years because our government leaders put our school in the middle of nowhere and then our school leaders would sell our home football games to other schools so that we could make some money. Playing 22 straight games in Baton Rouge should have never happened.

We might have only been known for baseball by about 2-3 other schools? fan bases but that?s about it. I would bet you that more people nationwide knows us more for our final four in 96 than our baseball NC or program. MState baseball fanatics are notorious for living in a small bubble

More people heard about Mississippi State during our 6 week number 1 run in football than heard about us when we won the national championship in baseball. Let that one sink in.

Football, but any of the three if we can beat SEC opponents at a much higher rate than we typically do. I am legit jealous of Auburn basketball, Tennessee baseball, and Ole Miss football. This has been misery! ****ing misery!

Agree!!!
It's especially hard to see what ole miss has done in football. We have weak leadership and for now, the two programs are light years apart.
It can still be changed though.

Well duh, I think we all realize that. I mean even WBB has surpassed baseball in popularity (probably even Softball). But that doesn't change the fact that baseball is the only sport that MSU can compete in continually at the highest level. About a 99% chance that the 2014 football experience will never happen again in my lifetime, and about the same probability that the 96 basketball experience will never happen again. I personally don't get into women's sports the same but without VS also about a 99% chance we will never see our WBB team achieve a NC game again or anything close. So that leaves baseball which is a sport I enjoy watching and being a fan of very much regardless of what other schools' fans like or don't like.

What is the criteria for this poll?
Money made? Which other programs put emphasis on it? The nicheness of the sport? The gender playing it? How many of our fans pussed out when trying to play their least favorite sport? Or simply: " which sport is our favorite regardless of what others think about it?"
