It has become blatantly obvious that we can not develop hitters on a consistent basis. The last improved hitters that were recruited here as freshman that improved year over were Foscue and then TA and Rowdy. So many more have just plateaued after there freshman year. Hines and Dakota Jordan are prime examples. Our best hitters the last three years have all been portal pickups that were already developed.

Trout is a D-2 player that has gotten better and still hits a decent rate
Downs keeps getting better after hitting .300 last year which was way better than his Soph year
Cupp has improved alot
Stevens looks alot better than last year
Hugesak was much better in Y2 at State than Y1

I could go on but I dont have to

Ah. The MSU tradition of bitching about hitting on a day where we score five runs and the starting pitcher completely falls apart.**

Actually it's the message board tradition of bitching about every coach we have and speculating about who would be the better hire.

Very true. We out hit them and struck them out 18 times. Starter falling apart is what the game turned on. I thought that they scraped hard to get back in it.

I thought we played well yesterday considering. My post had nothing to do with the game. I just get let down every year by players that I feel like should be improving. But I'm always equally surprised by some of the guys we bring in.

The guy I was talking about didn't even play yesterday.

I only see 2 have not responded well and both of them are homegrown. One has vastly improved defensively the other still looks like a freshman.
