View Full Version : I think it's time to give Joe Powell more opportunities in the starting lineup.

Ross isn't as good defensively as Joe and he's hitting .200 with 2 RBIs yet still gets the majority of the playing time.
Potential, talent & athleticism means nothing if you're not being productive.

I think it's too early to change guys yet. Maybe after this weekend you think about starting some new guys.

I'd at least drop him down in the lineup and put Chance in the 2 hole.

We have got to rethink the lineup and Lemonis said so himself last night after the game. We have 3 of our top 5 in the order batting below .250. That's not going to get it done. We all thought our offense would be better this year and might have to carry our pitching early on but so far it's really been the exact opposite.

That is what good/great coaches get done. Figure out what is or who is working out and adjust accordingly!

No doubt. It's up to Lemon to fix it

I think it is past time for Hines to platoon.
And what is up with the RF from California? He hasn't started in awhile.

Easy fix is get rid of Gotreau. This is a 3 year trend if not longer.

The hitting coach is about as important as a RB's coach in football. He's there to recommend a thing or two and to be a sounding board. Especially in this age of video. Lemon talks to hitters. Cheese talks to hitters. But at the end of the day- hitting success depends on the player. It's like blaming Shaq not being able to make FT's on the best coach of all-time in Phil Jackson. Anybody talk about firing Phil because Shaq cant make FT's?
We had 13 hits last night. That's the most hits Troy has given up all season.

My friend who is an MLB hitting coach would beg to differ, but you do you.

A coach tells you he thinks he's very important? Shocker
GoTro is not telling Hines to get up there and try to pull every pitch he sees toward The Hump in each AB. Hines ultimately controls his actions at the plate. Since he wont change and has become ineffective- now it's up to Lemon to fix it. If Lemon keeps rolling him out there- then Lemon is to blame. It's beyond time to let some others see if they can take the job. One thing that has given Hines the benefit of the doubt is that he has actually become a pretty good 1st baseman in the field. That does make it a harder decision

And unlike last year we have options that can play first base like Stallman.
And reading between the lines of Lemonis's interview last night I fully expect Hines to either sit or be dropped down in the lineup.

Powell started Saturday and looked awful swinging at pitches above his head. He's not the answer.

But Powell is the better defender which was my point: If Highfill isn't going to hit, then why play him at all? He's literally starting because he's supposed to be better offensively but the production isn't reflecting that. Thus if you gotta play a poor offensive player regardless, you might as well play the better defender.

This is what I expect to happen. Also will allow us to try out maybe Stevens at DH or we can play him in the field and put Sullivan or Downs at DH.

He had to miss the whole season last year. The expectation is that he will continue to get better. He and Reese both have better days ahead
