I said it after the scrimmage and it holds true. Lemonis teams don?t focus on the details and are sloppy. He is not it, plain and simple. He might can get the talent but he can?t coach it up.

The only way we will win is if our players out play their coach.

Gotro is so not having a positive effect on the approach for this lineup. Going on for years now. What good is he?

Gautreau sucks. It is unfortunate that it takes 2 straight seasons of garbage for an assistant coach to get fired. It took 2 years for Foxhall and it will take 2 years for Gautreau. I might be overreacting a little but I do not have faith in Gautreau.

The white Sox beat someone last year and we weren't playing the white Sox. Why do people rush to judgement in baseball after good or bad amazes me. It's 55 games. It will play itself out one way or another. Reese is gonna hit. Just need to be patient.

Got to love this from a coach:

Question: What did you see from the team tonight?

Lemonis: They started off with a really good arm. He located and kept it down. We hit a couple of ball hard early, but didn't get it to go for us. We fell behind early and did show a lot of composure. We fell behind and they took it and ran with it. Credit that to a good team. We didn't adjust and we weren't competitive enough tonight in the box. We didn't make adjustments and have to get better.

Question: How do you get your offense to stay in the ballgame?

Lemonis: I don't know if I'm buying into that one a lot. We got to get better, got to compete more. We're better than that. We have to have better at bats. We're not adjusting well in the box. The guy is throwing sinkers, you move up in the box, and you have a plan. We're having a hard time getting some guys to make some adjustments. We saw that on Sunday too. They threw strikes and competed away. We have to get better in the next couple of days and be ready Friday.

If you?ve already seen it, then why are your players still doing it? Dude is clueless and can?t coach.

Been saying for years any winning we do is in SPITE of Gotro. He’s a middle of the road coach that always has us as a middle of the road offense. I don’t like it. And I don’t like that his players don’t adjust. At all.

For the last two years I have despised Gotro’s taught batting approach. WE NEVER ADJUST AT THE PLATE! We seldom are the aggressor at the plate. I know it’s early and I am well aware it’s just one game but we looked at the plate very much like we have the last two years. Gotro either install aggressiveness or get the h—x out of our program. And yes I’m angry losing to those people

example of a ceo coach who may speak his mind but won't dabble into an assistant coaches area. I hope we improve

Its is way too early to see what we have. I know 34 and Todd and Homedawg are closer to the program and have some inside info many of us don't have access to. But we all have eyes.

I felt USM would win. They aren't built from the portal. They have several returners. Monistere was a player at NWR I was very disappointed State didn't go after. Paetow is consistent. They are in the middle of a hot bed for High School baseball where coaching is top notch and get the pick of those guys 8 of 10 times.

Their starter last night, from Starkville Academy, did exactly what you want out of a 3rd year guy. He kept the ball down and got the low strike call. So did our guys so it wasn't an umpire situation. Every time their pitchers got the ball up, our guys hit a pop up instead of a line drive. They got 1 big hit off a mistake pitch! 4 hits each. And our replacement at 2nd had 2 of our hits! He reminded me of Mangum with his approach. He was aggressive. And looks to be about 5'5" tall and 140 lbs. In other words, Gotro has had time to ruin him.

The next 7 games will tell what we have

Hines looks exactly the same as 3 years ago. Stand on the plate and pull the shit out of it to RF. If he ever figures out that you can back off the plate and hit those outside pitches to LF, he might make some noise in the minors.

Well now to be fair, it only took 2 days last year before we got the "fire Lemonis" threads going.so he managed to actually sweep Manhattan this year. So he got off to a resounding success this year and didn't lose his first one until game 4 against a baseball rival. So he needs time to get all these people in the right positions. We gave Jans time to turn things around mid season. We should give Lemonis the same courtesy.

I see an unproven weekend rotation and a questionable lineup- by SEC standards. The only definitive statement I can make is "we'll see".

But I will add or at least reiterate, that this program's standard is to host.

Thank goodness for Parker, by far the bright spot on our staff. Pitching will improve over defense and hitting. Lemonis walked into a ton of talent.

Where is mediocrity? We finished the season ranked and 5th in the SEC. We finished in the Top32 of the Tourney. We were literally Top 10% of college baseball last season. Basically Top 1/3 of the SEC

Mediocrity doesnt make a Regional

Pico is actually fairly proven. Pitched pretty well his Freshman season. Came back and pitched pretty well after rehab last season. He's shown he can get outs in SEC baseball. 3.30 ERA last year vs SEC/Virginia in Regional
From there? Yes we have questions but it's obvious our bullpen is top notch.

Hitting? Hines is about to be the school's all-time HR leader. Trout has been a solid bat. Highfill hit 10 HR's as a Freshman. Downs hit .300 last year and is 4-7 to start this season...DNP vs the Nasty Bunch. Reese was a really good Freshman. Sullivan is a preseason AA. Stevens has a hit in every game so far. I think we'll see a line-up that's pretty good this season
