The last 2 homes games have been absolute beat downs. It's time for you to cuss in a mirror.

Agreed, losing is one thing but we've had some home blow out losses and that is concerning

Hoping we are one of those teams that finds it towards the end of the year and come together at the right time but right now we do not even look like a tourney team.
First 15 games we looked like one of the best teams in the country. Starting with the UK loss, in which we actually outplayed them and should have won, it felt like it broke the confidence and chemistry we had been playing with up to that point.
Hubbard has not been who he was supposed to be this year and it has really hurt us especially considering Jans built this roster around him being that guy. Hubbard is kind of a liability honestly.
And Melendez, Kugel, Harris and a horrendous Cam are in really bad funks right now.
I think we have the ability to get it all back together and there is still time in the season but it has to start coming soon.
I see one of two things happening. We get a big win soon and start to build some momentum back heading into SECT and NCAA or we completely implode and lose the next 4, which is very possible. Good chance we are underdogs in next 4.

The last 5 games Hubb has been the only player worth a crap. Every other player has disappeared/ Something else is going on that Jans needs to stamp out. The team has quit playing like a team and playing like butthurt junior high kids who are pissed they don't get the ball enough.

and a football player bringing the ball downcourt like he is LeBron. Look at the last 10 games and tell me what type of O are we running. Don't think too hard about it or you will get a brain freeze.

We certainly need to improve. We certainly have issues. There are certainly concerns. But Hubbard isn't a "liability". If he was a liability he should sit on the bench with Jeremy Foumena and Harrison Alexander. Hubbard needs to be part of the solution. He needs to do some things better no doubt. But he's far from a liability. We don't magically become better when he is on the bench.

That seems to be the problem. We don't seem to know what the hell we're doing. I really think it's time to end the Cam Matthews experiment. What are we really losing? Start Hubbard, Harris, Kugel, Murphy, and Nwoko from here on out. Melendez and Matthews have given us just about nothing the last 5-7 games. At least I know that spreads the floor with 4 guys who are actually a threat to make a jumpshot.

Hubbard has and will always be who he is. You're not going to see him make a significant jump. He's the same player now that he was last year and will be the same player two years from now. Plus, he kills us defensively.

why do others kill us from the 3. Hub is 5'9" he can't guard. then we double the post and a skip pass to a wide open 3 point shooter.

I have no clue why we are doubling the post every time. It serves zero purpose because all they are doing is getting their shooters to relocate for wide open shots.

I really don't get the point of this. Those were great wins, and no matter what happens this season, they will always be great wins. We've had some good wins this season, but no great wins. Is your point that jans needs to be fired or what?

The team I saw (up close and in person) against Memphis is a totally different team than what we have now. They played hard and they played for each other. Something has happened...could there be a split over the Clary "situation"?

I've seen several posters defend Jan's coaching performance this year when criticized w/ those very games from last year like that makes a difference.
He doesn't deserve to be fired obviously but it's seems like he has lost the fanbase as quickly as he built it this season and it looks like he is barely holding on to this team currently.
Meanwhile the announcers in last nights game were on repeat saying how he could take over any team and make them competitive day 1. I tend to agree but he certainly has flaws that are almost as detrimental. Non-existent 3pt D and poor FT shooting being at the top.

Murphy has been our only consistent player on offense and rebounding when it counts. Hubbard gets his average in many games on volume shooting( 5 of 15 last night and similar to other games this year), and when game is out of reach (last night) and is a liability on our switching offense. You can't change 5'11" in the loaded SEC. It's getting hard to watch.

Hubbard sucked yesterday. He had 2 back to back good games and the 10 shitty ones before that. Overall Hubbard has been a huge disappointment this year

He's averaging 17.6/game. That's 4th in the conference. I don't know how that's disappointing. At a certain point, the others have to step up and score. You can't depend on Hubbard to score 30 every game. Teams double him off every screen, if he drives it's probably getting blocked, and with no one moving he has to attempt to create his own shot.

Have you looked at his stats on his volume shooting to get his 17.6 ppg each game this year? Have you been to games and watched how many points his man gets? FL, he was 5 for 15 to get his with many coming late in the game when it was out of reach and this is a pattern in several games this year. There are not enough shots left for others after he takes his and this may well be part of the losing problem. We don't have any ball movement with him at the point. After the center comes out to the head of the circle to take the ball, I have often seen all five players outside the three point line with the the other four watching Hubbard take the shot after he gets the ball back. Even Jans said after the FL loss that the guys weren't in sync and weren't running the offense. We have issues.

Yep and I've watched other guy's man score just as many. It's not Hubbard defensively. It's everyone. And that even includes Cam Matthews. No one on this team is playing defense. Hubbard at least makes up for it by shooting. No one else will do that. Harris misses every open shot. Melendez passes up open shots to drive into double teams. Matthews turns it over once he gets past 3 dribbles. So that leaves Kugel coming off the bench and Hubbard to shoot.
We have to score because we suck at defense. Nothing is going to change that this year. So we really need to stop focusing on defense. Just shoot.

Not all 17.6 are created equal. He needs to upgrade the rest of his game besides points on volume shooting. Needs to get better percentage wise, passing, finishing at rim and especially perimeter defense. Big things you need from your PG especially at 5-9. He just has not made that jump this year and Jans built this team and roster around the assumption Hubbard was going to become that guy.

You totally left out Murphy in your analysis. He has been mr. double double recently and I dare say plays some good defense inside. Without his level of play, things would be much worse.
