?Twas the Monday before first pitch, so everyone call their shot of where you think MSU Baseball will finish this season. The best prediction and worst prediction will square off at the vet school at seasons end.


I?ll go ahead and start with mine:

We?ll be the 3 seed in a west regional going 0-2 in that regional.

Host, likely overall a 12-13 seed. Win SR because the national seed we are matched with gets knocked out. Win 2 games in Omaha.

42-13. 19-11 in conference. I think we're the 11 national seed. Win our regional and get to a Super. We'll win the Super, win a game in Omaha and then get put out. So final record I would guess would be 48-15.

I've stopped following any of our teams closely, so it's tough to make predictions these days. It's not that I'm not a fan. It's just that I've reached an age where if I see a continued poor performance or lowered expectations, I find something else to do with my time and money. With that said, can someone give me a rundown of our baseball team this season? Players to watch, strengths and weaknesses. Give me a reason to reinvest in MSU.

Should be better offensively with more power in the line-up. Defense however is a concern except in the middle infield where we should be one of the best in the country.

Should have one of the best bullpens in the country but lots of questions have to be answered with the SP's. The talent is there altho some of it is young- except for Simmons who turns 35 this season

It's hard to keep up with whether you are old or not now. Too many players moving around to try to keep up with who and what the hell we have going on.



That said...

We host and get bounced in someone else's super. Same frustrations as previous couple of Lemon years.

I think we'll be around where we were last year.

14-18 range. One of the last few host spots or one of the top 2 seeds.

The SEC schedule is the easiest I've ever seen and our lineup is deeper, but the pitching concerns are valid. Parker could definitely work his magic again and the potential is there with a few guys, but we'll just have to see.

Our SR will be against a non-host and we'll make it Omaha
We get hot in Omaha and have a team built for the stadium.
We win it all.
Elitedawgs posters will have a dissertation of how Lemonis cost us a perfect season and really under met expectations by not winning 2 natties this year and we need to look into replacing him.

Alternate reality: Someone references this post if we lose the CWS Final in a heartbreaker as Lemonis being unable to meet expectations and takes my post as we are championship or bust.

I'm going to say that we lose a couple of Saturdays in pre SEC play and then set the rotation and end up winning 20 SEC games and end up a National Seed. We go to Omaha again and end up getting knocked out in the CWS.

A few frustrating losses early as we figure out who?s actually ready to pitch and lemonis figures out the outfield lineup.

SEC record looks good, helped by the fact we avoid top teams this year.
