The free article just posted on Genespage. They only picked Hunter Hines all Sec on either 1st or 2nd team. I guess they don't think much of our talent.

Well they also think a lot of other people's talent. I mean the SEC has 6 of the top 10 teams in the D1 Preseason poll. You also have to remember that most of the times, it's SID's voting for the coaches. IMO we're probably the 6th best team in the conference. I think we'll finish better than Vandy, Texas, and UGA. I also think there's a better than average shot we leapfrog LSU and Florida in the final standings.

Dang! I saw one projection with Florida playing in the Championship. You think State is better?

I think A&M/LSU/UPig have the 3 best teams going in and then the rest is just a scrum. But there are always injuries and surprises in every season. SEC baseball will just be more of what SEC basketball has been

Dang! I saw one projection with Florida playing in the Championship. You think State is better?

I saw a projection yesterday that had us in Omaha along with Fla, LSU and A&M

We're a 4-8 place team depending on a lot of unknowns, so I'd lean more to that 8th spot.

I saw some website that has already predicted odds for the Natty this year and their favorite is Tennessee at plus 750 to repeat. I think we were plus 4500.

I hate to say it but these coaches preseason polls have been pretty spot on for us this season.
So anything better is Lagniappe.

No need to "hate to say it". It's okay to acknowledge the coaches sports information directors are right 33.3333% of the time.

One thing in our favor is the schedule. That should give us an opportunity to outperform our prediction.

Also, we have a lot of talent that is fairly unknown to outsiders because of youth and injuries. Ross Highfill for example, should be an All Pre-Season SEC had he been healthy.

Then you have others like Dylan Cupp, Makhai Grant, and even Pico to an extent. We have a good chance to surprise this year.

This is the easiest SEC schedule I've seen.

We should host if we're worth a crap. Gotta take care of business in the non-conference though because that's what hurt us last year.

In our situation, that is a pretty good spot. We have some highly talented young pitchers that are coming in and some coming off of injuries. If half of those guys pan out and progress, we could be top 10 nationally and that puts you in the hunt.

If we can play sound defense, I think we have a good season.

Thats my biggest concern- defense.

We will be elite defensively at SS/2B but average everywhere else except catcher depending on Highfill's glove improvement. His arm is very good.

I had not looked at our schedule overall until today and I can't believe we finally got a favorable schedule in one of the big 3 sports. Lately, ours has been the toughest or near the top. Avoiding, Ark, aTm, Tn and Vandy is huge. We have the potential to have a really good overall record if we can perform at a decent level.
