We paid for this when we could have just kept Shak.

I know all this is difficult for college coaches now. Roster management is insanely hard with the current rules. With Shak we are a better team

Yep. Big swing and a miss by the staff on this one. We basically told shaq to look elsewhere so we could take a gamble on an undersized guard who has had problems with previous coaches. Hopefully they learn from it the next go around

Will he be transferring to Utah also?!?? ******

I dont blame the staff too much. Managing a roster in this crazy era where there arent many rules is extremely tough. Super tough being a coach in this crazy time

I don't know. Despite mstate7 coming on here to post Clary's stats after this post, any idiot could see Moore is/was better than Clary. Big miss if true. I don't really buy it.

Shak is the better player in a vacuum but wasn't complementary to how our roster was constructed as Clary could be. Anyone arguing Clary is a better player or Shak is a better fit for us is wrong.

Moore in 2023-4...
23.5 mins/game
7.9 ppg
1.8 assists to 1.1 TO
1.9 rpg
0.6 spg

Clary in 2023-4...
29.5 mins/game
16.7 ppg
2.8 assist to 1.9 TO
2.9 rpg
1.0 steal

2023-4 conference rpi ranking...
Sec - 0.561
Big 10 - 0.561

Harris, kugel, Melendez, and nwoko were added to this team, and Jans getting critiqued over clary not panning out - pretty horrible.

I didn't see enough of Clary to know if he was a better fit for us than Shak, but Shak has worked his way into the starting lineup at Kansas for Bill Self so he must be doing something right. Self has stated he loves Moore's defensive energy and said he creates havoc, he doesn't score alot but that's not his role at Kansas. Clary is lightning quick and can make a defender look really bad but I never liked playing Clary and Hubbard together. Who knows what could have happened with Clary but it appears he is done at State. With Jans not having much confidence in Warren, our primary ball handling other than Hubbard will be Kugel and he hasn't done a bad job in that role. As much as I love Cam Matthews, he's averaging almost 3 turnovers a game and he can get out of control sometimes, we may need Warren at some point this season so hopefully Jans can find ways to build his confidence and get him in the rotation more.

I posted about this a month ago. Thought was he?s seeking medical redshirt, a transfer and more nil

Shak legit stopped shooting after about January last year. He needed a reset and he wasn't going to be able to help us this year. He also can't play PG so would've just been another guard. And I can tell you without a doubt he's not better than Harris or Kugel.

Clary was taken for two reasons: 1. He was an actual true PG | 2. He could be a bucket getter if Hubbard left. Hubbard turned down A LOT of money to stay at Mississippi State. We compensated him well no doubt, but he could've named his price and about a dozen or so teams would've had no problem meeting that price. He was approached by I KNOW OF 10 SEC schools. And that's just the SEC. He was approached by a dozen or so other top programs.

Clary was a miss no doubt. But at the time, he was a risk we had to take. We couldn't risk waiting until late April/early May and losing Hubbard then without having any player in the fold.

Brick City 12 gotta be the highest paid 30% shooter in the nation. We are very fortunate that Kugel fell into our laps and we need to ride him as hard as we can through the tourney. He's the modern day Dontae.

Hate to speculate but this just doesn't add up. He was Penn St's leading scorer last year and they basically told him to look elsewhere. Penn St is not very good so it's not like they had better players. Something was just always off about this move.

Ive seen him on the bench several times, thats what makes this so weird. I don't know the details but can this injury actually be legit?

#1 job for Jans in the portal next year: Find a big PG than can play the 1 on offense while guarding the opposing team's SG on defense.

Yes, though those guys are usually pretty coveted...

Clary was never a fit with Hubbard. Made no sense unless he was insurance.

I wish we still had Cam Carter. He's balling.
