We can correct this by challenging the goal more and making teams defend someone going towards the basket.
That will open things up.
Right now there is little threat .

We are going to play better at some point. Glad we are working through this now instead of a month from now

We have certainly degraded since the 2-0 SEC start. In our last 5 we are 0-3-2 in regulation. Thank goodness for a couple of gritty OT wins. We just don't have enough dependable offensive options right now and we aren't as good defensively overall as we were last year. Really need Hubbard to get back to being an offensive difference maker and Cam to give us SOMETHING on offense. Cam didn't score a single point today unless I missed it. Just can't have that from a player playing his number of minutes.

Jans has to get a big PG in the portal for next year if we want to take the next step as a program.

I agree. Jans does a good job winning with the players he has, but this is what is holding us back from being in the Tenn/Aub/Bama/UK/UF grouping

Jans does a great job overall. Great coach, we are very fortunate to have him and I want to keep him as long as we can. But a very stagnant offense is a hallmark of his teams. He sacrificed some defense this year for more offensive firepower, and it has worked for the most part. But recently we have been sliding back into the more stagnant offense that has been a staple. We cannot have that or this team will not accomplishment nearly what we thought they were capable of.

Cam had 0 points and 8 turnovers. Not having a PG is what is hurting this team and thats not going to change.
Hubb is trying to adjust to being more of a PG but it's a work in progress. He had 5 assts today and made a couple of sweet passes. Hopefully we get better as they adjust to life with no PG.

Don't we have one that's sitting on the bench right now

Probably at least worth mentioning our last 3 games have been vs kenpom's 42nd rated D (SC), 1st rated D (Tenn) and 16th rated D (OM). This could be some our issues of late. Also worth noting, we are kenpom's 16th rated O.

What is the deal with Clary?
Is he hurt or just choosing to sit out?

Jones had 0 points as well in 27 minutes. That's 0 points in 59 combined minutes from Cam and Jones. Both played great defensively though.

Not directed at you but I'm tired of hearing about Clary. He wouldn't help us near as much as people think. Our worst performance of the year was against Butler and he was horrible in that game. We've been pretty good since. The SEC is just really tough especially against a team you've already played once, who is desperate, and in their gym.

I really like both's game, but I hate extended stretches of them together

It's moot anyway bc he obviously isn't gonna play, but your reasoning is dumb. The 2 games before butler (unlv and SMU) he was really solid - 8.5 ppg, 5 assists, 1 TO. .500 from 3 (2/4, so small sample).
Last year at Penn st...
16.7 ppg
37.7 3fg
81.1 ft
He would absolutely help us.

Yeah right up until they told him not to come back.
We were horrible defensively with Hubb and Clary on the court together. So he would only help us in a limited role which is something he's clearly not comfortable doing.

The worst combo that we run is Hubb, Harris, Jones, Cam and Murphy. This was our lineup from the 8:15 mark to the 6 minute mark and it let USCe back in the game. Teams just sag off of Jones, Cam, and Murphy. Then they overplay Harris who can't beat you off the bounce. Then key on Hubb with length. Jans needs to avoid this grouping. Watch for it next game.

Now that's fair. We would be really short in backcourt, but handling the ball would be a huge asset. Again, moot bc he's gone.

Yes, what is the deal. The offense is currently non-existent.
