When the guys report next week, will we actually find out the 2025 Roster or not until Feb. 14 at 4 PM?

We usually do not put it out until after final cuts, which is the day before the season begins.

I thought with the new roster numbers set and related changes that all that was known last semester since guys have enrolled elsewhere now.

wow, I assumed part of the reasoning was to allow a kid time to go ahead and enroll somewhere else and transfer. thx

Expecting few surprises but the Freshman Pitching class appears to be very strong. Expect a few sophomore and junior pitchers to transfer. Some already have.

Duke Stone, Charlie Fields, and Dane Burns could be big contributors in 2025 and beyond.

MSU also has two JC guys that played on teams with a teammate pitcher outranked them as recruits but their numbers are pretty much identical.

I hope Bradley Loftin is back to full power in the Spring. That would be a great and happy surprise to see this player do his thing and get drafted next summer.

Don't forget about Cade O'Leary who had some injuries this fall.

Dane Burns and Makhai Grant could surprise some people this fall.

Loftin just has to get healthy and stay healthy. Wouldn't shock me if he ends up being a four year guy just because of his health.

Yeah, looks like Parker has some young horses on the roster. O'Leary was the highest rated and Booth was Mr Alabama for Baseball. Were both guys nursing something in the fall?

Dotson, Stevens, and hopefully Siary make big leaps.

I'm not as big on Booth as I am some of the others. I think he can be solid but not sure he is a weekend starter. Maybe Sunday or midweek kind of guy.

We need them to contribute this spring if possible.

Quoting John Cohen at a Jackson speech about 12 years ago. "Whenever you are Mr Baseball in a state, there is something special about you and what you bring to the dugout."

You have to think Pico and Indiana St are going to start to begin with. No idea who that 3rd guy is gonna be. The good thing is that we have arm talent and Parker has to get it in the proper places. Ligon is one I'm curious about. Has he made the adjustment and gotten the maturity needed? Developed the 3rd pitch? He has a really good sinking FB.

It's not maturity it's command with Ligon. Not sure how correctable he would be at this point. I just don't think he is ever going to be very consistent.

I could see Stone potentially starting on opening day. Could certainly start out in the bullpen.

Both should be healthy. Burns I expect to be in the bullpen. Only question is how much of an adjustment will he have to make going from high school, rehabbing a year, and then pitching against college talent?

Grant is a complete wild card and we'll have a better idea of where he is at in February. Does he start out in the bullpen? Does he start out as a midweek guy that maybe moves to the weekend rotation later? Does he surprise everyone and starts out on Sunday and throws 50-60 pitches against Manhatten? Also has the same learning curve as Burns but he does have more upside.

Guys like these two are why I would schedule a SWAC team on Wednesday the first midweek of the year so that we can see what they can do.

I think Booth is a SEC talent. Just not sure what his role likely would be. Talent wise to me he is behind Grant, Nolan Stevens, Dotson, Burns, O'Leary, Charlie Foster, Ryan McPherson, Duke Stone, and then if we get them to campus next year Landon Harmon and Richie Swain. And then if Loftin is still around then that's another guy with more talent but then it might come down to how healthy Loftin is. That group is probably our core group of pitchers for the next couple of years.

Well I put maturity and command pretty much in the same boat. He certainly walked too many last season. Hopefully another year on the college level improves his command/maturity
