After a long spell of quiet weather, severe storms look to make a comeback this weekend. Still a lot of variability in timing which will have significant impacts on who sees the worst weather and how high the tornado threat is, but the SPC did use the term outbreak. As of right now, here is their best idea of where the strongest storms will occur.

Been seeing the potential for an artic blast around 8th to 10th with possible moisture available at the same time. Are you seeing anything that far out.

That's at the very outer edge of the long range models. The gfs will have it in one run and then take it back out. Forecast confidence is extremely low that far out. Especially with winter weather. It's not an exaggeration saying you could get a magic eight ball and it would be just as accurate.

Gotta love Mississippi. Can't even kick your feet up on a late December day and watch football without worrying about tornadoes blowing you away.

Still a little early to tell. Possibly as early as late morning and as late as late afternoon. Models aren't agreeing on timing yet.

Do you use Skew-T log(p) diagrams ( modeled or radiosonde) for prediction of severity?

I'll read the info put out by the SPC and NWS and then look at the Skew T diagrams to see what the forecast soundings look like to see if I want to hedge my bets one way or another.

Strong cells starting to cross the river round Natchez. For the Coast there is a line developing near the Alexander to Lake Charles heading this way. Probably hit the Coast round Dawn.

Any update?
Everything still holding pretty firm from last night. There is an enhanced threat tomorrow with the possibility of strong tornadoes and damaging winds. Timing looks to be late morning into the early overnight hours.

And remember, we have several active Skycams viewable on www.NMSCAS.org. Website is free to view.
We also have several other locations approved to put cameras once we get funding to do so. If anyone is looking for a last minute tax deduction, you can donate to our nonprofit at https://givebutter.com/Y3o6N9 or text NMSC to 53555
Proceeds go to our camera network and disaster relief fund.

I’m supposed to be flying into Memphis around 9 pm tomorrow night? I guess I may be in some trouble?

I wouldn't be surprised if the storms had cleared Memphis by then. Maybe some post frontal light rain still in the area.

That’s good news. Keeping my fingers crossed. Don’t want to be stranded in DFW

Had a wet and flooding night here on the Coast esp East of Gulfport where it seems the front stalled. 4.5 inches of rain in Biloxi and up to 11 inches around Vancleve area.

According to nws call with eoc?s spc is probably about to drop a 5 on us.
If something bad happens folks remember be careful using heavy machinery at night for rescues because you might cruise someone under piles. Also if you have a drone and help with sar check the trees. Victims in storms get stuck in the trees.

Probably one of the best videos of a nader doing damage.
I think this was the one which hit near Meadville since the person said he was 10 miles west of Brookhaven. He said Hey 82 but most likely meant 84,

Hey SVD is this a little too close for comfort?

He was definitely running a risk of being hit by debris that's for sure. By the way, we had one of our guys get hit in Georgetown that night. He's got dashcam video of it. Let me see if he's got it up anywhere.

Side note: they actually flew us from DFW into Mem at around 10pm Saturday night. It was VERY choppy but the storm in the distance looked freaking evil from above
