I hate it, but Jim has fell off. I loved listening to him on baseball when he was still on top of his game

A sad day. He was our last link to Jack. Those two were all almost all Mississippi State fans have known for calling games.

The end of an era. Some of my first memories of State baseball are Jim Ellis on the radio.

But it was time. I'd say replace with Bart but with the TV broadcast being a bigger deal now- I'd like to see him and Charlie stay put there.

Yea, Bart and Charlie aren't leaving TV. With every game televised on your phone now, they are to this generation what Jim was to previous generations.

Is it possible to do a thread of some of Jim Ellis' best calls (e.g. Burke Master's homerun etc.)? I'm not very tech savvy on embedding. Would be fun to hear some of everyone's favorites. I'm really going to miss Jim.

am i in the minority here? and i don't get to watch or listen all the time...but charlie is awful. i like bart even tho at times he's trying to do a jim ellis impersonation, but i've never thought that charlie brings anything of note that isn't already obvious.

Here to say we can all agree on this one. He is the end of the era and someone we will all miss in some capacity. Dang good humane being too!

Yes, I think you are in the minority

Charlie is good and has a great level headiness about him.

And he has a lot of inside info from lemonis and crew. And he has a ton of institutional knowledge about the M over S.

Every Friday that I turn on the broadcast and realize that it's not Bart and Charlie, I am instantly let down for the weekend. I love listening to them and they are good follows on Twitter as well.

Charlie is no Harry Carey but he does a solid job. I think he and Bart work well together

As long as they don't replace him with Jason, I'll be fine. I like Jay Powell as an analyst but he is no 1st Chair Guy. Matt has a lot to learn about baseball before he could be Jim's replacement. May have to be some auditions done.

I'll do it along with Powell. Play by play, comedy, arguing...let's make it fun

Gonna be strange not hearing Jim on the radio, but it's time and I'm happy for him. Helluva career!

Bart and Charlie are great on TV.

Charlie is below average as a color analyst for sure. He talks way too slow and his accent is annoying. I'll be forever grateful that he spearheaded our NIL efforts though.

Neil Price will be the replacement. He called baseball at Kentucky.

Yep. Both of my parents grew up in West Point before going to school at State. I spent a lot of time in West Point visiting grandparents growing up.

Jim was the best in college baseball. I'll miss him. Great announcer and very knowledgeable. He was perfect for our fanbase because he was very calm but would get excited at appropriate times.
