Say what you want but if you want to win he can certainly help. He?d be a big help to CJL and he?s done it with lower ranked players. We are set up perfectly for him to come and assist.

Are you volunteering your daughter, or expecting other fathers to take care of that?

I expected some dumb replies, just not the first one.

Na, there’s much more going in in college ball that’s worse.

It was time to do that when we hired Lebby. Let the media s***storm happen. Not like anyone thinks highly of our program to begin with. Bring him in as a consultant and give him a headset. You don't even have to let him off campus recruit.

Correct. Hugh Freeze is gainfully employed. As is DJ Durkin.

How involved is he now?

I wonder how many of our “ hell no” people ever looked at the Pepper Hamilton findings. I’m guessing not many and rather than read the facts they just go by what they hear the main stream media saying.
Anyway, a proven HC such as AB could help a young aspiring HC lay a foundation and give some guidance.

More than people probably know but less than he needs to be.

Yes. Should have been done 12 months ago.

Should have the whole family involved and get this train rolling.

I am sure he is mentoring Lebby behind the scenes in some capacity. It has been what, 10+ years since he has been in CFB? Not like the game has changed any. Him being officially on staff would move the needle nowhere and would only cause us to have to defend it. Not worth it.

Some of y'all acting like Hugh Freeze didn’t go coach at a school affiliated with the SBC right after paying hookers for 17 year olds

Ehh it wouldn't be a story after 4 days. Just let it cycle out. The benefits far outweigh the risk, which is nothing.

Id prefer to watch Lebby continue to burn this program to ground. Maybe then, we can fire everyone and just completely buy an established football program from top to bottom. Maybe an Arkansas State. Probably all we can afford.

Out of curiosity, why would you rather do that, instead of using a possible resource that could be available to us?
Briles has the HC experience, is a proven winner and is possibly available for us to use full time. Do you believe we are “to good” to hire him? Look at the individuals that have done worse things that have had a chance at redemption and are still coaching today.
The board of regents wanted to keep Briles but ultimately the media circus made them fold, he wasn’t innocent from a manager perspective but he took a lot of heat that in reality should have fallen on others shoulders.
I personally think he’d be an awesome addition to the staff.

The idea that Freeze, who paid for consensual sex, is somehow a worse person than Briles, who enabled and covered up dozens of rapes, including intentionally not warning Boise State about a player's crimes, which led to him raping again up there, is baffling to me.
Freeze is a loser and a creep, no doubt, but Briles is far more reprehensible. No way I'd let my daughter attend a school that employed Briles.
There's a reason that Briles can't even coach in Canada or be a SWAC assistant, and it's not because there's some kind of global conspiracy against him and him alone. There's a reason why Liberty was willing to give Freeze another chance and not Briles.

I mean honestly, what and how big of a difference would he make being an assistant coach on our team in 2025? He probably would not even want to work for his son in law. I promise you if there is anything he could be helping him with already he is. Lebby is pretty fhuking knowledgeable on offense. Relationship building with players, prospects, transfers and recruits is his priority.
-Oh cool they have Art Briles on staff who was big time 20 years ago and had some good Baylor teams over a decade ago that won 10 games but lost in both BCS bowls they played in. He also was a good high school coach!! None of these kids know who he is or GAF about Art Briles dude.
And I could care less about the scandal stuff personally this convo always comes up and yall talk about him like the Wooden of college football.

I mean we're not officially employing him but we're using him. I can almost guarantee he has a athletic dept issued iPad and probably has access to the Seal Building.

Which is why I said don't use him for recruiting. But just like all these fmr HC's that are analysts now, it's another voice in the room that's done it at a high level and for Briles, he's completely resurrected a program. It's a good voice to have in the room when you're at a talent deficiency like we are.

Fair enough. But I am sure he 100% already does that unofficially, at least I would assume so on the program building part with his SiL Not like his offense is cutting edge anymore.

Well I mean it's kind of the guy who invented the offense. Obviously Bill Yeoman had the veer all those years ago at Houston but Briles invented this offense

Well, don't know if this is sarcasm but Lebby, being his son-in-law, had a hot line to him anytime he wants advice.

I said do it the day Lebby got hired. Who honestly would give a flying **** if Art was back in coaching? Can you imagine the shit articles that would be written about State....oh wait....they already do. The negative publicity is all we are used to as a university

I think Briles helping is good for MSU but I also think that having people that have different perspectives on things helps some too. I think it spurs creativity and it causes coaches to add things to their offense that can make it better sometimes even if it's a couple of different concepts.

Not sure what you are talking about, but if one coach in the SEC can personally hire, arrange, and pay prostitutes for 17 year old high school recruits then how does that compare to Art Briles.
Alabama had a coach that basically looked the other way when one of his players was instrumental in the death of a girl. Hell that guy played pretty much every game. Because he was good.
What did Art Briles personally do in his situation? Did it openly support murder? That is the bar in the SEC.

I just read up on the Art Briles situation.
WTF, these girls that are being abused..... it is your responsibility to go to law enforcement. You can't assume the coach knows of a situation. I am sure he did, but you bring charges through legal means if abused, raped, attacked, etc.
What did Art do after police charged one of his players? Before that, who gives a crap.
