We need a thread comparing a guys final year at State and their first year at new school.

For example Zavion final MSU season
40 receptions 503 yards 12.6 avg 1 td
Following season at LSU
20 receptions 188 yards 9.4 avg 2 td

90% who are leaving will get no NIL monies. they simply want to play but aren't SEC caliber.

Correct. Out of the guys we have leaving, 20+ at last check, probably 4 of them will receive NIL.

Interesting stuff. Zavion could?ve thrived in our offense under Lebby. Now he?s almost insignificant for LSU

What is frustrating is that way more than 4 received decent NIL money from us last season. I understand that it is the world we live in now, but the fact that we spent significant NIL money on last year's team just grinds my gears.

That's how bad off we were last year. We were having to overpay and take chances on kids that did not belong on an SEC roster. Arnett and his staff left the roster in about as bad a situation as you can leave a P4 roster.

Great work there. Some players went up some down in production. Most are a wash. But what really sticks out at me was the waste we had at RB. Look at Woody and Dillon numbers. That is what we really wasted and could have been better on O.

Johnson played on a Playoff team behind a playoff quality line. Had he stayed at State that year, he still would have split time with Marks.

Marks played at Running Back U behind a great offensive line. USC played a PAC 12/Big 12 style of defense. That was their problem. And of course Marks & Johnson again would have split time at State. They would also spilt time under Lebby just like our current backs did.

I mean we knew when those two were Freshman that eventually one was going to transfer out. If you put either in Lebby’s offense they have similar numbers to the ones they had at their new school.

I'm assuming the stats for them are Rush Attempts/Yds/TDs in which case of course its going to look way better else where because of how they were utilized in the pass game here. I'd be curious to see how the stats look if you took catches into account

Marks:

USC: 47/321/0 TDs

Johnson:

MSU: 48/285/0 TDs
Washington: 24/190/0 TDs

Our backs caught a bunch of passes, but they were glorified runs because they were always behind the LOS.

I?ll be honest, I figured they had way more receiving yds their last year at MSU than what those stats show. Guess there?s not much room to work with when everyone knew the ball was getting dumped in the flats and our WRs wouldn?t block.

Our offense in 2022 was worse than the previous year.

Yea our 21 offense had some electric moments. Arkansas and Auburn both come to mind as well as Kentucky. Our 2022 offense went back to dink and dunk with the occasional deep shot. A lot of that had to do with losing a guy like Scooby Ford, who was just a demon on crossing routes. Or the possession receiver that was Makai Polk. Or Malik Heath who could catch a 5 yd slant and break two tackles and get 8 addt. yards. RaRa also was a great crossing route guy and he became more of just a deep ball guy in 22.

Realistically, 95% of them have never given a crap about the jersey. I mean think of the all the former players we've had.....how many of them do you think support Mississippi State financially? Maybe 2-4%? MAYBE

Can't agree with this post. I would say most of the former players I know are still big MSU fans.

Those days are probably over. Certainly not what it was.
