I don't get the whoa what a bad recruiting class. I don't keep up with recruits or recruiting but on paper it looks pretty good. Now we gotta get a bunch of portal guys who can contribute.

It feels a lot better flipping Lockhart back versus losing him to OM. The class is in line with what we have done historically and appears to be above average on defense.

Hopefully, we can pull some magic tricks in the portal.

The national ranking is fine, it's ok. But the scary thing is we signed four 4 stars, that's it. Ole Miss signed 14 as a comparison and they were middle of the pack in the SEC. Bottom line, we really didn't sign any perceived difference makers (expect for a couple) and most of the recruits didn't have offers from blue bloods. In the past I think signing a class ranked 25th in the country was fine because we had good depth already in place. Not so much now.

Bottom line, it all comes down to the portal to have any prayer of getting out of this mess and win some conference games.

There are 32 5 Star Has Recruits. The SEC signed 20 of the 32. There are 250+ 4 stars. The SEC signed over 100 of them. State signed zero 5 stars and four 4 stars. We need to score a bunch of 12 point bucks from the portal to be competitive next year.

Actually according to 247(which is by far the most accurate recruiting evaluators) we signed 5 4 stars and a borderline 4 star. I do agree we need to have a good portal showing(especially on dl) but we recruited at our normal range and the class was also extremely balanced.

It has us with 5 four stars. Average player ranking of 87.77

On3 has OM with 10 four stars. Average player ranking of 90.3

edited: So I see what you mean, if you go click on the Ole Miss class and literally count them, it is 7 4 stars for Ole Miss. But the overall ranking on the team total pages says 14 in that column??? Maybe it's 13 4-stars going off 247 rankings but their overall rank is not a 4 star? Only explanation right?

Mississippi did their usual mess and tried to cut out important people in the equation. It's no surprise that they keep getting involved in these situations
