That season is here.
1. Petrino might be a candidate as HC at Charlotte.
2. Penn State OC interviewing with West Virginia. That could affect Penn State in the playoffs.
3. 247 sports, North Carolina board, said at least one HC from each of the (4) P4 conferences had reached out with interest. Their fans think Beamer from the SEC, probably agent getting his name hot for an extension.

As mentioned in OP, Agent doing work for Beamer to milk this season to an extension.
But something I read in the writers notes on that, is he said "at least one coach .....from each of the P4 conferences". Agents will be in overdrive the next few weeks.

One thing about UNC that bears resemblance to 3 other schools. FB is 2nd bridesmaid on campus. MBB is no 1 and always will be and no top tier or up and coming coach will want to be an afterthought at NIL budget meetings.

1. Petrino is going to see what happens with Pittman. There is apparently a press conference today at 3 where they believe it will be announced that Pittman is retiring.
2. WVU is interesting. The tea leaves seem to be reading Rich Rod on that one. I think they'll make him say no before moving on. Also wouldn't count out Jimbo there. He is politicking for that job.
3. UNC seems to be kind of all over the place. I have heard every name under the sun. The 4 that I think will end up being in the final group are Jon Sumrall, Bob Chesney, Barry Odom, and PJ Fleck. Arthur Smith is also a wildcard in that one. I also would not count out Mark Stoops. It seems he and Kentucky have kind of run it's course. You could see a situation where Stoops takes this job and Sumrall takes the UK job.
The big one that everyone is waiting on is if Ohio St makes a move. I have a feeling they end up making a move but by the end of December or beginning of January your pool is going to presumably be thinner. It will be interesting to see how fast some of these jobs are filled. I think that will give you an idea on if the agents believe that Ohio St is coming open.

There was an SI article yesterday, or somewhere, suggesting if Ohio State moves on, that Freeman would be called home, from ND. Freeman, being a Ohio State guy.

Mike Vrabel would have to say no first. And I imagine Kiffin would have to say no after that.

Vrabel may not want to recruit 18 year olds, although OSU recruits itself mostly, and they have been NIL money.
Do you think Lane would be on their short list?
Also, Pittman - where are you hearing about the 3 pm presser? I know you have information beyond web sites, but I did not see anything yet from Arkansas media about it.

I just saw something yesterday. Could've been false though. Haven't talked to my Arkansas guy in a while. He would be the one to know the inner workings of it since his family is one of the ones they usually hit up for hiring/firing money. The last time I talked to him I do know that they were trying work something out with Pittman where he could retire

I mean there's going to be 6-7 teams lined up to get Ben Johnson. Jets, Giants, Saints, and Bears are already open with the Jags more than likely opening at the end of the season. Dallas could always make a move. I wouldn't be shocked to see Cincy make a move or Oakland admit they made a mistake a make a move.

Bears have a young, highly touted qb with good WRs and plenty of cap space. I think they're the most attractive spot right now

I can see Ohio St. getting rid of Day if they don't make a strong run in the playoffs. Losing to Michigan 4 years in a row leaves a lot of bad tastes in the mouths of people who pulls the strings. Especially with him standing there with a dumbass look on his face during the brawl Saturday. I loved it.

But the Jets, Giants, Saints, and Jags all have a chance to draft a QB in the first round. That's even more attractive.

Pittman announcement - he is staying another year.
So Petrino may be headed somewhere.
Edit :Pittmn is 29-31 and 3 bowl games in 5 seasons. He gets to come back another year.

A RISK to say the least. But they will donate to the NIL to give him the best chance.

As a saints' fan, it pains me to say this, but our spot is not attractive. We're already 62 million over the cap for 2025. Damn

Oh we'll need a complete rebuild to say the least. But a good QB speeds up a rebuild. Look at the Commanders, a good QB and a good OC and they are two years ahead of where everyone thought they would be

Chadwell is the leading candidate to UCF.
I thought last year, it was said in media that he was waiting for a big P5 job or at least in certain locations.
Did we get into any discussions with him last year or was it all Lebby.

No, we eliminated him early because he had college head coaching experience. We only hire guys that need training for their job.***

UCF is as good of a job now at State. They are in the Big 12 and located all around that Fla talent.

no doubt and agree.
But I was checking, did Selmon really make a run for him or was it just kicking tires and Lebby all the way.

Chadwell wants South Carolina. As long as Beamer is doing his thing there that job is taken for the foreseeable future.
That Orlando talent alone could run UCF. Throw in some other Florida recruits and UCF can make some noise.

Jamey is happy at Liberty and they can pay as much or more than most P4 programs.

Not to mention the path to the playoff is more achievable now than ever for Liberty. This new playoff structure is a blessing for the little guys like Boise, Liberty, UNLV. I can't wait till one of those teams wins it all. Going to be glorious.
