I had absolutely no hope going into yesterday?s game so of course we keep it close and get me all the way invested before screwing the pooch yesterday. Still felt good to be in the game, especially since I predicted a 56-21 beat down.

1. Defensively we played out of our minds yesterday. We get 2 sacks and 8 TFLs. We had one breakdown the entire day and Isaac Smith just took a bad angle. I do not really consider the Prieskorn TD a breakdown since we zero blitzed and it still took a good catch for them to convert that. Our D kept us in the game yesterday. No doubt about that.

2. Yesterday should not be the deciding factor in keeping/firing Hutzler. You should not let one game be what makes the decision. I still hold to that if you can get a deal with a bona fide DC, I mean sitting P5, you make the move.

3. As much as people want to make yesterday on Lebby, it is not. It is on Van Buren. He kept us in the game with a few throws, but lost the game with a few more. Lebby schemed up a really good game. Obviously would have liked to get the run game going more, but I thought he got the ball out of Van Buren?s hand quick and did not give him many reads to make. That is going to be the next step in his maturation. He cannot solely be a one read or deep ball QB.

4. The goal line play calls were not bad, outside of second down. We got no push on first down, we get a false start, and then Van Buren dirts one to Coleman on 4th down. The second down was stupid if you are truly going QB power there. Van Buren is not Tebow.

5. Coleman is a player. Keep him at all costs. I know he makes the mistake on the punt return but he was the only offensive reason we were in that game. If Van Buren leads him on hashes 3 plays earlier, we score a TD instead of getting tripped at the one. He had the CB beat by 3 steps and Van Buren led him into the CB instead of down the hashes.

6. Bring in a transfer QB. I have said it for 6 weeks and have gotten pushback every week. Van Buren is just not ready. He MAY be ready next year but we cannot go into next season hoping at the most important position on the field. Shapen wins that game today.

7. Just like with Hutzler, do not let one game convince you that the D is good. We still need 5-8 IMPACT transfers on that side of the ball as well as 5-10 depth pieces. I really like Smith, Tillman, Jones, and Pollock. And I think Stone can still be a nice piece for you along with Jennings. However, we need to spare no expense on that side of the ball to get better.

8. On offense, we need at least 3 OL, a couple of WRs, a QB, and a RB if one presents itself.

9. You are about to see A LOT of guys get into the portal. Do not overreact and think the sky is falling. A lot of them NEED to get in the portal and are being told to get in.

10. The next 40-60 days will be the most consequential days in the history of our football program.

11. Have faith in Lebby. The players sure as hell do. A less bought in team would have rolled over and quit after Toledo, see Florida St. He will get this thing turned around. He now has a foundation to build from. He has a vision and tangible stats to sell instead of just a lot and a lot of promises

Go get a DC & some staff and kill it in the portal and move on. We'll know a lot more in about a month.

Clark Lee and Vandy have improved drastically in one season, with some good hires and portal guys. As you say the next 2-3 months can really help this program if the right moves are made.

The best portal addition for Clark Lea was Jerry Kill. He handed the offense over to him and Lea only focuses on D and being the HC.

I just don't think in this day and age you can afford to sit with Hutzler another year

There is plenty of blame to go around for this total crud show.
A. Keenum for hiring Selmon. A AD that had never been the number one guy in a athletic department. Sure he had some credentials and a father that had played at OU. But had no idea what it is to be the head and especially true to be head in the SEC. Selmon’s name may carry some weight in Oklahoma but it don’t mean didlly in the SEC and this crud show that Selmon is running might work at OU but don’t work here.
B. Selmon hiring his buddy from OU. Lebby has at least been at several schools as coordinator but again he had never been the head guy and all the responsibilities that come with being the head guy. Lebby I hope does great from here forward I really do.
C. Lebby hiring his buddy as a defensive coordinator that had previously spent majority of his career as special teams coach. I mean really come on! This is what concerns me about Lebby. All he had to do was hire somebody/anybody with some experience as a D coordinator. Is Lebby just trying to get his buddy a big payday and we/MSU are dumb enough to buy into this scam.

NOW GO FIX THIS MESS! or all y’all can get the he$$ out of here and we can go get some real leaders that can!

Hes not firing Hutzler. Selmon wont fire him till he is made to and Keenum wont make him till we are so far gone we wont have working lights let alone speakers

Don't oversell it. This is going to take a long time to turn around. And still the question lingers will this staff be successful at it. But we have no choice but to move forward with them. No one else is going to come take this over right now and getting players to come will be equally difficult. So settle in for the longer haul.

It's gonna be a NO for me Dog.

I'll focus on Baseball and hope both Basketball teams can slip into the Tourney, cheer for the softball, golf and tennis teams, but piss on Football if we have to watch 2 more less then mediocre seasons and watch our Admin hire another Coordinator or Running Backs Coach as our Head Coach and Special Teams Coach to be our HC. Hell, just think! State almost hired an NFL Special Teams Coach as our HC a few years ago! Good Grief! What a pack of dumbasses we have in charge in Starkville!

This. With one exception. We sign a top 10 transfer portal class and top 25 regular class. That?ll show me this administration is serious. Lebby needs talent. Without that it?ll be clear there is no real path forward for the football program with this administration and group of big boosters.

Exactly, I can only have faith in Lebby going forward if he hires a DC who knows what he's doing. I've thought significantly less of Lebby since the day he hired a total novice as DC and if he keeps him I'm totally out.

I very seriously doubt we fire Hutzler so go ahead and start picking the new teams you all want to root for. May I suggest Duke or Syracuse. They are good for between 7-9 wins a year and you can complain about whatever you want to because 90% of their fans do not give one iota of crap about football.

The OM game wasn?t all Hutzler. We only had 39 yards rushing for the whole game. Let that sinc in. We need good OL coaching and some good OL players. Without that, we are going to be losers again next year.

^^^ This is exactly where we are. The pitchfork and torch crowd will never come to grips with this but it is the reality of the situation.

Might as well. If we run Hutzler back then we aren't serious about football anyway.

That change is coming. I would expect an announcement later this week or early next week.
