do you all believe this administration Selmon/Lebby have what it takes to win? Not just monies but enough smarts to get real SEC talent to Starkville.

Until you have the school admin and the athletic depts all on the same page, the football program won’t amount to shit. Smaller programs that need less money (e.g. baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, etc)will continue to excel in spite of the school and not because of it. Football is really the only sport that requires 100% unanimous support from everyone, everywhere, all the time.

No. And questionable decisions go a level higher than them.

My regard for Selmon is about as low as it can be. Maybe he's better than I think but he seems terrible
My regard for Selmon is about as low as it can be. Maybe he's better than I think but he seems terrible
Why?
Because he inherited a dogshit football team and hired a guy after that dogshit coach was fired by him?
What are you and others basing his performance on?

The guy he hired just lost every SEC game by double digits and got blown out by Toledo at home.
Did you watch the season?

Well we're certainly going to find out.
I'm optimistic because it is correctable.
My biggest concern is the lack of changes and not listening to the fans on things. Just because that's a sign that they may not have the vision to change things on other levels of the program.
I think this offseason and 2025 is going to answer a lot of these questions and I think we all hope they get answered correctly by MSU.

This offseason will be what determines the amount of time Lebby (and Selmon by proxy) remain at MSU. There will need to be some coaching changes as well as some real movement in recruiting. If not I can see a lot of money starting to dry up. Our little group accounts for $120k and there is already rumbles about moving things to academics (which is also struggling). Ultimately, we may need to make a bigger move but we will see.

Have you been to a football game this year? It's a pretty bad experience. He's been here almost 2 years and we still don't have speakers that work

Haha. Unfortunately I did. The coach and AD are lot getting fired. Three coaches in three years is already an abomination.

It's just not the speakers. So many details large and small, on and off the field, are not being sweated out. We sit in section four and no longer rent chair backs with so many empty seats around us the last few games, it is sad to see the condition of said chair backs. I dare say that half of them are dry rotted and half of those have splits in the seating. Don't forget the attempt was finally made after the Florida game to put new stickers on the end of the rows and new seat numbers. This was a fiasco for the A&M game as they misnumbered the rows. It is time to make sure people in the administration and athletic department start doing their jobs or maybe someone else can. 55+ year season ticket holding family and bulldog club member since day 1.

There is a disconnect between the administration and fans. Fans pay for everything so it should be taken in consideration.
I hear that State has $20 mil to spend in the portal so being poor is not an excuse. The defense played their best game today but I haven?t forgot about the other 11 games. Hutzler needs to go but I think he stays.

I'm not sure if there is a disconnect as much as it is the administration just isn't doing anything about it.

This is what concerns me. I remember when Byrne was our AD he took over in 2008 when Croom was our coach. His first year we had a lot of the same issues. And a lot of those were corrected the next year in 2009. It was very noticeable. THAT should have happened this year with Selmon. And it didn't. He hired a DJ and that was it.

Yes this concerns me as well the Croom/Byrne comparison. Byrne started fixing things. There is no communication and leadership to the fanbase.
I'll throw out one more. The Junction must be fixed. The out of control mess that happened last year and admin response has killed gameday atmosphere. This must be fixed before next season. Students now just stay away till right up to gametime.

What Hutzler did yesterday was a vast improvement...I don't think anyone on this board would have thought the defense would have held Dart to his lowest passing total for the season. I think Hutz had a good plan for this game and I think he stays on for next year.

We'll know the answers to most of these questions in about a month. If we let go of our lame duck defensive staff and do well in the portal with all this money we have, there'll be some hope.
If Lebby can't fire his friend and we can't get anyone to take our money, I think it's a sign that this coaching staff (and administration) just doesn't have what it takes.
So yeah, we'll know a month from now.

There are so many things wrong with everything pertaining to the football program and the fan experience. There is so much money being spent to pay salaries and players, and there is nothing to show for it. Something is very wrong, and it starts at the top. You can?t keep asking the fans to fund all this while routinely providing such an embarrassing experience.

only way it improves is to replace keenum with someone who has balls like byrne.. otherwise just saddle up and take it.

The fans had nothing to do with hiring bad coaches. That was a John Cohen/Mark Keenum problem. The fans need to show the 17 up and do what they can with NIL but they're investors at this point and you can't ignore them completely. Install a damn sound system and use the interlocking somehow. That shuts up a lot of fan chatter and it's easy. Good leaders take easy wins.

How do you think Cohen got there and who was he listening to while sitting in that office overlooking Chadwick Lake? It definitely wasn?t the 3rd floor of Lee Hall.

If the fans were running the program we would be wearing the interlocking MSU and have LED lights.
My point is if they are tone deaf on issues like that then there's a good chance that they will be tone deaf on other things as well.
No fan said to hire Barbay or Hutzler. No fan told Cohen to not even try in the portal.
Hell if our fans did run the program- not the boosters like you are talking about because most of us aren't going to place incompetent coaches in jobs to get access- MSU would be a lot better off.
Hell I wanted us to hire Shane Beamer. Looks like MSU should have listened to me.**

So you think a leadership team that won?t do that is one we should have confidence in to turn this program around? When they are the ones that put it there to begin with?? Your response is to tell anyone who says we have major issues to STFU?

The fan experience is very relevant in the equation. Look at the Cowboys. They suck this season but the fans fill ATT to the rafters every week.

Cohen completely screwed us in putting us 2 years behind NIL. Hiring coaches tho, agree he didn?t cause our isssues. Leach is not the direction I would have taken our program, but I understand why Cohen chose that route coming off of Moorhead. Then just horrible luck he passed and left us early.
Keenum is the one to blame, hiring Arnett puts us back 2 years AT BEST that did not need to happen. We should have been 4-8 last year with a real HC picked from a real HC search and then 6-6 this year looking to get back to our 2020-2020 standards in 2025 next season. Keenum completely screwed us.

You’re confusing boosters with fans. Fans pack the seats and pay the bills. We have a group of boosters and associated administrators that are absolutely killing the football program.

Absolutely right about the junction, I've noticed that the frats have essentially left. With them leaving it takes away most of the crowds that were there in the first place.
Only issue is with this is I think that the most likely scenario of the junction getting fixed is all the southern traditions tailgating is going to get moved to the junction which I don't necessarily want.

Not comparing DE. Simply suggesting that devoting resources to the fan experience has a real payback.
