You don't replace a person that died.

Barbay may not not be a bad OC in the future, but he was nowhere near ready for the P5 level. He doesn't seem to have an identity or a feel for what he wants to do. He seems to just try to latch on to what the HC wants to do. And when he doesn't have a HC that is offensive minded....well see last year. He needs to go back to a lower level or just be a position coach and figure out what he wants his identity as a playcaller be.

No, he wasn't and isn't ready, nor is our DC. A good coach, Fritz, sees this and is proactive. We give a guy a guaranteed 4 year contract at 4 million. Barbay had a 2 year contract at 750,000 a year, so Houston is on the hook for only the last year. Damn, we have some boneheads running our football program.

You could well be describing our HC with these comments. "Nowhere near ready for P5 level"( see staffing); "no feel for what he wants to do"(see Hutzler).
