So unfortunately I wasn't able to watch or really keep up with the game much yesterday with being on the road for most of it however I remember one point seeing we had the ball inside their 20 when it was 31-20 and we opted to go for it on 4th and 3 rather than kick the fg and make it a one score game. It's likely I missed something but can someone help me understand why we did what we did?

I questioned that as well. You're down two scores. Go ahead and get the three you never know what might happen.

Didn?t understand that one either. In fairness, Lebby called a play that worked, MVB just threw a bad ball.

I usually would question it, but with our horrid defense you have to score as many TDs as possible. If we get three, then they go get 7 in three plays. Didn't really matter, because that defense wasn't stopping them anyway. Might as well go for it.

Have yall seen us play defense? It was the right call.
Also, the play call on 3rd down was designed to go for it on 4th.

This Swiss cheese defense calls for a measure of unconventionality.
And...MVB is going to have to improve over the offseason to beat out Shapen.

When the QB throws slants into the feet of receivers it makes it difficult to score.
Lebby for sure calls too many 2nd down running plays but it’s hard to blame him completely because he knows he has a QB that is jumpy in the pocket and is not a good passer. And he can’t trust MVBs feet to get out of trouble because he’s gonna slide 4 yards short of a first down anyway

We have won 2 games all year, playing with nothing to lose. 3 points does nothing when we have SWAC guys playing defense. Play call was perfect, MVB just threw it in the dirt. Basically, Lebby knows we wont win games scoring FGs and is playing to win

It was a good play call, I disagreed with the decision to not take the point, but it was a good play call. We ran the same thing on the first drive and KellyA dropped it and go bot blown up. On the 4th down down 31-20, Van Buren had Moseley open and threw it at his shoelaces.

I can see the point that Lebby probably needs to name an OC to help take the pressure off. BUT, he hasn’t been able to run his offense all season because of atrocious defense and then QB injury.
Sprinkle in some boneheaded decisions here and there, sure. But when you know that your defense is going to be on the field 2/3 of the game, you have to do what you can to avoid 3 and outs and run some clock.
If we had Shapen at QB with the Booth that is playing now, the offense looks leaps and bounds better. We just aren’t yet a 40 point per game offense, and to win with this defense we need to be scoring 45-50. But that is not even mathematically possible because the defense can’t get off the field. We don’t possess the ball enough times per game to score that much

It was the right call. Our D was going to give up more points, we had to have a TD. Also we had just drove down the field two times in a row. We had momentum.
The issue I had with the 4th down call was MVB targeted Mosley. Yeah ball was low but he got his hands on it.
Either should have thrown to TE or RB on roll out or hit #3 on the crossing pattern. Coleman is the go to guy and it should not be anyone else. Coleman was mad after the play. Went off on sidelines by himself not happy he didn't get a chance at the ball.

While I would not normally be in favor of that call, I think Lebby knew our defense was not going to stop them. We needed to make it 31-28 to then make it 38-35 and do the onside kick to have a chance. I pretty much knew once they got that scoop and score we didn’t have a shot because our defense is way to bad to overcome a crucial error like that from the offense.

That was probably his first read on that play I would think and Mosley was wide open. The throw was awful. But when your first read is that wide open I'm sure all QB's would throw it to that guy.

And yet he is going to bring Hutzler back as DC. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Yeah may be. Coleman gets open almost every route, no one can guard him and he catches everything.
