Great win for the dawgs, the game was great (as discussed) but good grief the Landers Center is awful.
We were in line 30 minutes before tipoff (line way into the parking lot) and did not get to our seats until 7 minutes into the game. They had a handful of people running everyone through metal detectors and it took forever. Walking thru a flea market in the lobby area, yes a real flea market, was interesting to say the least.
We paid $40 for seats in the corner but since it's set up for hockey we were wrenching our necks sideways since we were past the baseline and looking back down at the court.
After the game there was no traffic control at all. Not a single person, cop, etc. So 3,000 cars all lined up waiting at a stop sign to get out onto the main road. It took an hour to get off property.

Jones Jr needs to learn how to shoot a jump shot.
Step 1 jump.
Step 2 put a little bit of arc on it.
Repeat until you get good.

It looked like a pretty nice venue on t.v. I hate your experience sucked!

Are we playing all of these games throughout the state instead of at home to try and help out NET so it counts as a neutral court game?

My guess is that it is a nice way to build support throughout the state by bringing the game to the fans in Southaven, Tupelo, and Jackson. Some of these fans don’t have season tickets so this helps them attend. And yes, you have the added benefit of the neutral site metric versus home court metric in the NET ranking.

Really seems like a no brainer to do this with how lightly attended the early season games are. If they could get a weekday game at Southhaven, Tupelo, Jackson, and the Coast, that would be great for fans across the state, would help RPI, and hopefully having more Saturday than weekday OOC games in Starkville would help with average attendance.

Sorry for your experience. However, I was at the game and experience was different. I live in Memphis so was glad to have a close by game. I bought my tickets in advance and walked right in. I guess I did not even notice the line you mentioned. I don't think they always have a flea market in the lobby. The venue had a couple of very large rooms on the sides of the lobby that were full of some sort of trade show. Not sure I would call the venue a hockey arena. The Memphis Hustle G League plays there. I paid less than your $40 for center court tickets. Agree about the lack of traffic control. I got out in about 15 minutes but no traffic control.

Speaking of the Landers Center, didn't realize the Memphis Hustle had reacquired Robert Woodard this season. Good for him https://memphis.gleague.nba.com/news/memphis-hustle-acquire-returning-player-rights-to-robert-woodard-ii

You have to remember that Landers Center was designed to be a multi-venue/event center. They have basketball, hockey, Disney On Ice, concerts, and I think even rodeo, not to mention trade shows and large corporate meetings/gatherings. It?s not meant to be a ?great? basketball arena.
By and large, traffic handles itself there for things under a few thousand. Yes, that means you are going to have to wait for the lights to change, but Church Road can handle the traffic as long as it?s not at peak hours (7-9am, 4:45-6:30pm weekdays). You?ve got I-55 literally right there so it moves on quickly unless you?re heading north and have to go under the overpass and catch the light on the far side.
If it?s that bad for you, I?d tell you go out the back side of the Landers parking lot in Truman Drive (west) and hop onto Hwy 51 south to Nesbit Road and then jump onto 55.
Just don?t speed on 51 or 55 going south - those Hernando PD guys are camped out on 51 and 55 from just south of Church Road all the way to a couple miles south of Hernando at the rest stops.

Yeah, there's definitly huge spaces behind the court and the stands and you can see the hockey wall. I sort of remembered a hockey team playing there at one point? The Riverkings maybe?? I did notice multiple people giving up (traffic) and turning aroiuund and going somewhere else. I bet they were doing what you suggested as opposed to Church Road.
