Man I cannot remember the last time we were this deep. Feels like we have 10-12 guys that can legit play

That 3 by Harris where you ball fake, side step, and hit the 3 is the type of shot that we haven't had (save Hubbard), and teams have killed us with

I love seeing them focusing on Hubbard and us having more options. Also, Hubbard is very unselfish. We'll figure it out on offense. Hopefully Jans will work some of his magic on defense this year.

Probably need to pull nwoko. Can't allow that shot

Yeah, he earned some bench time.

With this many bodies and shooters, we should full court more

Poor center for SELA. He might be 7 feet tall but he got the shit end of the stick in every other department

Only 2.4 games in, but I'm disappointed in cam so far. He doesn't seem to have upped his game

Cam is what he is at this point. If you were expecting him to even be DJ Jeffries offensively then you were setting yourself up for disappointment. He's Tony Allen with slightly better ball handling skills and taller.

Shot 7-28 from three and still had 80. I?ll take it.

We would've scored 55 in this game last year, lol.
We're much better offensively.

Yeah, it's weird to not play well and score 80. I'm looking forward to seeing how we do against Utah.

I expect him to finish at the basket. In fact, that's the only place I want him shooting. I also expect him to not turn the ball over. I didn't expect a jump in shooting, but I do expect a jump in ball handling, defending, and layups - stuff he can do, and should do even better this season.

Honestly, that is Cam Matthews game. He is a hustle, grit and grind player. I personally don't like him handling the ball as much as Jans allows him to, but that is how he has always played. He had 7 points, 13 rebs, 4 assist, 3 steals and a block. He literally filled the stat sheet. His game can be somewhat erratic at times but he does alot of the little things that wins games.
A huge thing he brings that we will need is his rebounding. He had 13 tonight and with guys like Tolu and Bell gone, we will need that from him some nights. Murphy, Nwoko and Chol need to contribute more there too.

And he won't be taking multiple 3 pointers, misses, from the corner every game also.

Cam is by far my favorite player on the team. I just want to see him finish at the basket at a higher rate this season. I was just ill with point blank misses followed by some careless TOs. I have high expectations for this team, but to reach them, cam has to be better imo.

That is a game we would have lost in recent years. SELA punched above their weight class. That win was due to our depth.
Utah seems to be pretty good. Hopefully, we rise to the occasion and show what we can be this year.
They've played poor teams, but they avg 98.0 ppg. This should be a good game to see where our defense is at.

Sec is gonna be brutal. Auburn took down Houston, and Kentucky beat Duke. There will be some good sec teams that don't make the tourney bc of how deep this league is. Hopefully we aren't one of them.

Utah has (arguably) the best shooter in the country, Gabe Madsen. I happen to think we have the best shooter in the country. It will be a fun game and it will be interesting to see who Jans puts on Madsen.

I had forgotten how incredibly hard it is to watch a basketball game on tv. All these tv timeouts is just about to ruin the game IMO.

Or the announcers talking about Kent or Duke or some other game during the entire broadcast. Thats why I listen to the MSU announcers during the game. And Richard is great listening to.

Oh I completely understand what you are saying, Cam can be very frustrating sometimes! In prior seasons, he and DJ Jeffries together would drive me crazy doing some of the things they did. But IMO the good outweighs the bad.
He's a unique player that most coaches in the country would love to have even with his flaws he's a tough glue guy similar to Dennis Rodman, Draymond Green, Marcus Smart, Jrue Holiday, Dillon Brooks...... just a guy that is a hard working nuisance with a non stop motor. Sometimes I think we all take him for granted, including myself.

The Utah game is going to be tough. They beat alot of good teams last season and have some big Guards. Jans has gone with 3 different starting lineups this season so I'm curious to see if he matches those bigger guards or sticks with Josh Hubbard and Kanye Clary starting together? Utah's starting lineup:
Jake Wahlin Forward 6'10"
Ezra Ausar Forward 6'8"
Mike Sharavjamts Gaurd 6'9"
Miro Little Guard 6'3"
Gabe Madsen Guard 6'6"
Our last game we started:
Keyshawn Murphy 6'10"
Cam Matthews 6'7"
Riley Kugel 6'5"
Kanye Clary 5'10"
Josh Hubbard 5'10"
It wouldn't shock me if we go bigger to start the game and maybe start Claudel Harris 6'4" Shawn Jones 6'5" or RJ Melendez 6'7" to match some of their size and possibly bring Clary and or Kugel off the bench. One thing I love about this team is we finally have some quality depth and can go with different lineups.
