Love that movie. Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks were comedy geniuses.
My 1st GF after my divorce in 2004- she looked kinda like Terri Garr. I would use the knockers line and it took her about 5 or 6 times before she caught on to it.

I absolutely love Blazing Saddles. I laugh so hard every time it's on, and I think about how woke the organization is that I work for. They would shit if we put Sanford and Son on the tv in a public area.

I don't recall it being shown in very early 70's. But I do remember it. There were two movie theaters downtown and a drive in theater right outside Stark Vegas back in da day.
P.S. Btw parabrave, I was told before my time at Msu, there was a club outside Stark Vegas (can't recall the name), But Kenny Stabler drove over from Bama one weekend. He had way too many Falstaff's that night and got into a fight with ex Msu football player who beat the snot out of Stabler. It was a rough tough joint, and you had better hold your tongue and liquor. Only place to get a few drinks were the Crossroads or drive to Columbus which 82 was two lane road and very dangerous. I remember a couple of students killed on Hwy 82 back in my day.

Actually, it was a close game, nobody had a clue who Terry Bradshaw was back then. But La Tech had a TE who played pro ball plus they had a very good football program in 60's, 70's and early 80's. Billy Brewer also coached there late 70's and early 80's!

I just remember the crossroads when Coast Rat dog would sneek me in when I would visit in the late 70's. It was great back then. I do know the Snakes life partner and next time I see her I will ask her about this. There was another rough dive east of Columbus my old girlfriends family told me never to go to.

Now I remember when Pitt would play in the Sugar Bowl they stayed in Biloxi. One night one of their players tried to hit on the girlfriend of a very nasty local. Let's just say someone dam near got killed on the pool table.

One of the late-night bars in Columbus area (one I stayed away from and Stabler got slobber knock several times), a friend went and when he left early in the morning to drive home his car was jacked up in coke cases and two tires stolen. LOL. One thing about those days, you didn't have to worry so much of getting shot but you could get beat up doing or saying the wrong thing to someone.
Btw parabrave, I took some summer school classes going into my junior and senior years. One of the classes was Anatomy and the Lab, D.D. Lewis came back to school back in the early 70's to finish his degree. He was in this class and a few others, he would ride his Harley to campus and was a great guy, very funny man! D.D. was a great football player, a tackling machine for Msu and the Cowboys, super smart football player. That Anatomy class became pretty close in study groups before exams. We used to go to his apartment and study together, fun times! D.D. was not a big man, maybe 5'11" and maybe 200lbs but tough as nails!

Southernaire--always full of Bama-people.. Big Ben Atkins and Nomads played there --they were from Alabama and were awesome. DD Lewis whipped many there.

If you cant laugh at Blazing Saddles there is something wrong with you. It's a movie making fun of race and racial stereotypes and having the hero as a black man in a time when that wasnt "the cool thing" to do. It should be a mandatory watch. I've done so for my kids

And Gene Wilder wanted Richard Pryor to be Bart. Now that would've been something,
