basketball coach at UVA. He did so because of the "changing dynamic in collegiate sports". I'm guessing there will be more as time passes.

Building a roster and having kids know their role has become ridiculous for coaches. Cant imagine having to deal with that shit

Good for him. Maybe a trend of this could prompt some regulation. It?s a business. The Fed loves to step in and regulate business.

It?s part of why Saban stepped back. It?s also why Chip Kellly is an assistant.

Also the reason head coaches are getting younger and younger. Get your bag early and move on to retirement or a broadcasting career.
It's no big secret, and everyone knows, that there are only about 10 legit programs that have a shot at a title even with the expanded playoff. And the chances of landing one of those jobs is slim for most coaches so all this talk about chasing championships is going to die down the longer this goes on.
Sure, somebody like Lane may move on to a bigger job post Ole Miss but it's going to become less and less likely to happen. Lincoln Riley is only 41 and has not succeeded at 2 blue blood programs. He has nowhere to go. DeBoar will be done after Bama.
It's weird for all of us that have witnessed it but the days of old man coaches is probably over. There will not be any more coaches like Bobby Bowden, Jackie Sherrill, Frank Beamer, Paterno, Johnny Majors. Mack Brown is one of the last ones left. College coaching has become a young man's game and I don't think that's going to change any time soon.
