65 year old life long state fan here. Last week I lost my 17 year and 1 month old yorkie. he was my best friend, my joy and gave me the love that took my worries away. We both looked forward to watch football and always wore his state collar. I know I was so blessed to have him that long, but I miss my baby so much. I had him cremated and he is above my headboard with me now. I know in my heart he is happy and healthy in heaven, just pray I live good enough to get there with him... Just wanted to write a little something about my baby....

Sorry for your loss. It's tough losing a pet, especially when you've had him so long. I love dogs. I keep multiple dogs these days. The last time I only had one, it was terrible when she died.

Hang in there.

We sorry about that. Dogs are the best! I had a beagle for 12.5 great years still miss the guy 13 years later. The memories become very sweet as time passes.

Sorry to hear that paverdog. You have to be a dog person to fully understand. Which I most certainly am. I was always a lab guy but they are all great and they are all missed very much when they go.

Aw man. Sorry brother. That sucks.
Just try to remember the good times.

The cremation is interesting. Something about it bothers me though. I'm actually thinking about having mine stuffed when she passes and just have her sitting in the house....

Thank you, thought about both but decided on cremation. I told my son and his wife just to make sure he will be with me when I leave this world.

So many of us understand... I've had dogs most of my life from bird dogs, hound dogs, beagles, to miniature schnauzers (one that was over 18 years) and a 17 year shih tzu ..... it was to hard to put them down when it was time. I'm 64 and won't have another because it would probably out live me. Like you , we had the last one cremated..... Love the state collar 👍

I have a German Shepard. I work from home and live by myself. He’s always there and is happy no matter what. He’s my best bud and I’m always grateful to have him. I’m sorry for your loss, man! Dogs are fantastic and will always be better than any cat.

So sorry for your loss my friend. Dog are special creatures like none other. They are the best example of unconditional love and loyalty. It’s agonizing and gut wrenching to have one put down.

I want to thank all of you my fellow dog fans. Reading these comments does make me at ease and knowing I'm not the only person with this kind of grief. Thanks again and God bless...

I'm very sorry for your loss. You will see him again one day.

Dogs are interesting. The wife and I got married 8 years ago and combined our families. I had a great pyrenes and she had a boxer and beagle. As of last week, all 3 have now passed. The 15 year old beagle gave up the fight last week.

About 4 months ago, I saw a stray dog on our Ring camera. The next few days I saw him around our house and the neighbors house. I started to put out food and water for him, but he was very nervous around humans and other dogs, so he only ate when we were all inside the house. He was living in a house being built across the street. The owners eventually called Animal Services to come catch him because he was chewing wiring. Animal Services set up a cage and caught him one Sunday morning. I kind of freaked out because we were expecting bad weather. I went over to put him on a leash and bring him to our fenced backyard so we could take care of him. Well, he came out of the cage and went crazy. He flipped all over the place as he seemed to have never been on a leash. He chewed through the leash in about 10 seconds and was gone. Then I looked to my right and saw that Animal Services had a GoPro camera attached to a tree pointed at the cage. So....I got a call the next day from a City Officer. 2 tickets and a day in court a few weeks later. Meanwhile, Animal Services caught him again a week later, and I started visiting him at the Animal Shelter. I went after work every day to walk with him on a leash so he could get more calm around people. He really needed help. After a couple weeks of working with him, we adopted him and brought him home. He's been with us since, and we all couldn't be happier. I am so attached to this dog, Shiloh. I never thought I could be closer to a dog than I was my Pyrenes, but here I am. We are inseparable.

I had a Yorkshire terrier named Dutch (we got him in DC the week Ronnie Reagan passed away). They have awesome personalities. Loved that dog so much. Once he got older and we were always away from home with the kids, we let him move in with my mom and dad. I can't remember my dad crying any other time except when Dutch died. He said "Inlost my best friend."

So sorry Paver.
