North MS Storm Chasers has launched an EggBowl themed fundraiser to help us raise money for our Skycam network and to be able to deliver disaster relief supplies to MS communities when they're impacted by severe weather. This campaign will run now through Egg Bowl night. To make it interesting, and hopefully drive donations, we're adding a twist. Whichever fanbase raises the most money we will take 10% of all money raised and give to the NIL fund of their school. So you have an opportunity to not only help us serve our fellow Mississippians, but to also help MSU sports. All you have to do is go to the link below, select donate, and MSU.

Appreciate it, Scooba. Below is the link to our five active camera feeds. We have about that many more on deck to be installed, but there's been a slight delay due to us changing the software to embed the video feeds to our website. It's been very quiet weather since we installed them, but I'll see if I can talk our tech guy into making a gallery on the website of some of the images they've captured. As a reminder, all money raised is going to expand our camera network and to allow us to build an inventory of disaster relief supplies to give out the next time a MS town is hit by a tornado. So win or lose the NIL part of the deal, your donations are going to help keep your fellow Mississippians safe and to assist them when they need it the most.
To break it down, it costs us, on average, between $1,200-$2,000 to buy and install one camera plus $600/yr in software subscriptions to have it on our website. I can tell you the NWS service offices and area media is thrilled we are doing this. They know the lifesaving potential they have. So if you're able, I humbly request you help us build this bigger. This was all born out of the tragedy that was the Rolling Fork, Winona, Amory tornado last March. The things I saw that night assuring in search and rescue haunt me to this day. I drove back home that in tears thinking there had to be more we could do than just chase and report back. A few weeks later a few of us on the team were kicking around ideas and one of them mentioned a camera network. From that moment on this became my obsession to make reality. Over a year of hard work, having doors slammed in my face, and being told you'll never make it happen we finally turned the dream into reality.

I appreciate all of you that are pushing this. So far we've only raised $84. We're grateful for that, don't get me wrong, but I know the potential is there to turn this completely around.

Just want to make a point as to the importance of these cameras. Currently, Jackson and Columbus radars are both down due to data issues. That leaves almost the entire state with no to very poor radar coverage. Now imagine this was a high impact severe weather day. Cameras like ours would become the best, or only, way to see if storms have become tornadic. I know money is tight for everybody, but this goes to show that these cameras aren't just some novelty project we're doing to feel good about ourselves for. These can truly be the difference in life or death.

Going to bump this one last time being a gameday. We've got a few possible locations for new cameras lined up, but we need the funding to be able to do it. We lost our tower climb guy that was giving us a good rate on that so now that cost has tripled. Any help is desperately needed and appreciated.

To expand coverage, possibly get more people interested, have you thought able maybe dedicating one on the coast and/or hattiesburg? Hattiesburg gets slammed a lot and coast has hurricanes you could report and post on. I just know there are a lot of posters on here that live down that way. Also I believe donations would be tax deductible.

Donations are tax deductible. And we want to take this statewide so if we find a place we can put one in Hattiesburg we would definitely do it if we have the funding. We just started in north MS as that's where the bulk of our followers are, and that's where we've gotten permission to place them so far.

Bumping again. We currently have a camera location ready to go but don't have the funds to get it installed. Also close to gaining access to a couple of more locations but those will be in the same boat. So far we've only raised $94. I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but this is an opportunity to help us save lives and help out MSU at the same time.

Bumping a week out from the fundraiser ending. And a reminder we are a 501(c) 3 non profit so all donations are tax deductible.

One last time ....
Thanks for all your help pushing this. We've got three more set to go up in the next 1-2 weeks hopefully and a couple of more after that. If funding and timing allow, we could possibly have 12 active by the end of the year...assuming the one in West Point wasn't hit by lightning the other day and doesn't need to be replaced.
