Maybe I am looking at this wrong, but how does a QB that goes 22/51 get SEC POTW. That stat line alone is atrocious.

He did throw for 337 and 3 TDs, but that completion rate is god awful. Just keep throwing it up I guess, someone will catch it eventually. Precisely 43 percent of the time.

Look what he did in Winning Time though. 2 clutch 4th down conversions with one being a TD and the game winning TD in OT. It also helps his team won. The only other person that had an argument for it was Beck. And his team was favored by 30.

I think it was SEC Freshman Player of the Week. That makes a lot more sense. I agree on it being a reach if actual SEC POW.

His team won. He had 2 picks as well... I think if they are going to honor someone, honor someone other than the QB in that situation if they MUST be an LSU player. I think the POTW should have great stats win or lose. If they had lost, you could easily have said it was his fault, but since they won - he deserves the POTW.

I did not understand honoring that type of performance.. Yeah it is a lot of yards, but when you put it in the air 51 times you should have 300+ minimum.

He is a Junior - it is actual SEC POTW. Bonkers.

His team won in the biggest SEC game of the weekend and he threw the game tying and game winning TD. It's not hard to figure out how he won.

Nussmeier gets my vote just cuz it was Ole Piss.

My bad, I was stuck on Van Buren. That?s where my head was. Carry on everyone.

All good. I didn't specify - I probably should have.

Either way 43% completion with 2 picks and that gets you SEC POTW, that's a rough week in the SEC.

Sounds like LSU won despite his performance, not thanks to it.

Thankful for it, no doubt. I think one of his receivers should have gotten it, but eh

The people who vote for awards don’t understand the game. They just don’t. They are like the 50 year old dude who spends his fall coaching/managing an imaginary football team (fantasy football). They look at stats only. How many times has a left tackle been player of the week (not often - maybe zero)? How many times has a running back been player of the week when he simply ran through some wide open holes that anyone could have run through (that certainly happens)? It is stat based. Admittedly, QB is the most important position on the field.

I kind of took it as spitting in the eye of Jaxson Dart. And I'm here for that.

Thats a good point. I would not be enjoying this season if they were undefeated and Jaxson Dart was front runner for the heisman, but the meltdown is must see TV. I hope they have a few more Ls in the tank.

Oh I know, it puzzled me how the stat lookers did not see the 43% completion rate and 2 ints. I have looked across the SEC though, not much else to choose from last week. For a conference that was going to be stacked with QB talent, performances have been pretty subpar.
