View Full Version : Have we ever had a more difficult schedule?

The merger goes without saying however as it stands we play teams that are currently ranked 1,2,5,6,7 and 4 of those games are away. That's insane and I guess a broader question is has anyone had a more brutal schedule than this? In a few weeks we play @#2 Texas with a bye week before we go @#1 Georgia.
For comparison, OMs schedule is laughable. They open Furman, MTSU, Wake and Ga Southern with only 3 ranked teams on their schedule (1,15,16) and 2 are at home.

Next year ain't much better. We play the NIU Huskies. The team that just embarrassed Notre Dame at home.

That is criminal... the league hates us. Which is stupid we are a founding member of the SEC.

They let an SEC ref crew give us the shaft in Tempe. The PI call on Craver was bad. Probably worse than that is the holding by ASU's OL in the first half. A few flags on them for that and it would have stopped Scooby Doo looking like Christian McCaffery.

Welcome to the SEC. Get busy living or get busy dying. I mean is our schedule tough? Yea. But so is most everyone else's. I mean you mention OM. They have road trips to South Carolina(one of the toughest places to play in America), Death Valley, Arkansas(which all of a sudden looks like hell on wheels offensively), and Florida(also a hornet's nest to play in). They get number 1 UGA at home. They do get UK at home, but they have to play OU as well. Let's see what they look like at that point. Arnold could've settled in.

You know another thing that would've stopped that? Wrapping up. Or playing with 4 down lineman instead of 3. Maybe the refs made a bad call, but there were 50 other decisions that cost us that game.

Completely agreed! It's ridiculous. I wish Lebby would take the hit and say stuff from the podium. If they are just going to keep giving us the shaft at least make it worth it and call them out.

Oh, it was comedy of errors for sure, but if we had just the right call at just the right time, and if a butterfly was beating it's wings in Istanbul at the same time, we might have pulled it out in the 4th quarter.

And the SEC got lazy and just flipped next year’s schedule. They had more than 2 years to figure this stuff out and should have rolled out a fair and equitable schedule for the next decade instead of this band-aid bullcrap they came up with for the next 2 seasons.

Jackie said that you always need to be ready to beat the refs and the other team. We were not ready, especially on "D" with an incompetent scheme. A junior high DC would have seen and made adjustments after the first couple of drives, put 8 in the box and made their QB beat us.

Does LT still work in the SEC Office with scheduling?

I still point to the Seydou drop on the 1st drive. He hauls that one in and our offense would've had early confidence and not be playing from behind out of the gate. Because the adjustments eventually came. Had we scored ANY in the first half, we win.

Considering this schedule, I'm sure of it.

one of these days some of you will realize that out side of real state fans. Nobody gives a shit about Mississippi State.

I didn't say OM didn't have a tough schedule but relative to ours theirs is a cake walk. South Carolina is 33/40 since '17 and is 24/18 at home. Florida hasn't had a season above .500 since 2020. I need to see more from Ark before I believe the OK St game wasn't an outlier as their record the past decade has been absolutely abysmal. LSU is the only road game on their schedule that is looking legitimately difficult and I guarantee they wouldn't trade any of their road games for ours. Whoever made our schedules was clearly an OM fan**

Florida's does look terrifying, but with FSU currently sitting at 0-2 I think ours is a little tougher.

I would have traded those bad calls for our DC adding a DL or LB at the line of scrimmage in the first quarter.

Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Ole Miss all on the road is the worst I've ever seen for us. Especially since Texas is new and really good while Ole Miss almost certainly has the best team they've ever had in their history. I'd have to search the archives but this is historically bad. Also considering where we are at the moment, how gimp we've looked and how uncertain the future seems.

We probably got our 4 easiest SEC games at home and 4 toughest on the road.
That would be annoying if we were good, but it's fantastic news since we're not. If we swapped them all, we'd be looking at 0-8.

That OM schedule is trash. They play two teams all season and one of those isn't even as good as usual.
