Auburn has the same problem as Florida. They will fire successful coaches because they don't win enough of what they consider "big games". I emphasize that because it seems like that goal posts moves for those two fan bases to fit their narrative of why they fire the coach.

Malzahn at Auburn- 2 SECCG appearances, 1 SEC championship, 1 National Championship appearance, 3 wins over Saban(most of any coach in the country at that time)
Mullen at Florida- 1 SECG appearance, 3 NY6 bowls, 2 10+ win seasons

Freeze will get it rolling at Auburn if they give him time, I mean he recruited the number 10 class last year and has the number 5 class this year. I just do not believe they will give him time.

The problem is that without a QB, it means nothing. Throw in the fact that HS recruiting success means so little if they end up leaving after a year or two because they aren't getting enough playing time.

They are all in on getting the kid from Lucedale, and he is awesome, but i don't expect a freshman to walk into the SEC and win 9 games in the SEC. Does Freeze really get 4 years if they go 7-5 this year and maybe go 8-4 in 2025? I'm being generous with 7-5 too. Looking at their schedule that should be more than doable, but who knows after losing to Cal.

He doesn't. I do not understand him not going after a QB in the portal. I mean Will Rogers was available and they didn't even try to go get him. I find this strange if they were the ones who were working so hard to get him in the 22-23 offseason like it was suggested by his father. Even then, I still do not see how they did not land a starting caliber transfer. They have the money, Jimmy Raine is bankrolling everything over there.

Freeze wanted to spend the money on HS recruits. He spent heavy on HS DL and WR. The Walker White kid cost a bunch too. He thought he could 'fix' Thorne.

Freeze's strategy was to build through elite HS recruits like he did in oxford. Problem is that it took time there, they won 7, 8, 9 games in three consecutive years. You don't get that much time now. If he goes 7-5, he will be on the extreme hot seat, which normally means the NIL dollars start to dry up. Just ask Napier last year coming down the stretch at signing day.

Good news for them is that the NIL won't dry up. Maybe it does from your $50-$100 fans but Jimmy Raine is bankrolling them and he basically handpicked Hugh. He just told Cohen who to hire. Cohen did not make that hire.

Will does not fit in Freeze's offense.

I know. Which is why I have ALWAYS called BS on that message spread by his dad that Auburn was coming after him. He couldn't run Hugh's offense. That offense needs a mobile QB who can take shots. Will has concrete in his cleats and maxes out at about 35 yds of in air passing. And that was good for the Leach offense.

The fact that AU didn't put a godfather offer in front of Cam Ward is still very bizarre.

He is the difference between 7 wins and 9-10 wins for that team.

Miami is a playoff team with him.

Gus should have been our coach after Moorhead and definitely after Leach passed but we had to get revenge and Keenum set us back 20 years. Gus is a good one

They begged will to come after 21 and 22. Then after the yacht club they passed

I doubt Cohen has any involvement in football or basketball at the barn, except to be the fall guy.

Still Wyatt’s minister of information any time Will needs defending huh? Why don’t you go hang out on the Washington boards when they get good and ready to send him to the bench?

Boy, Chris Jones loved him some Hugh Freeze. He was singing his praises Monday night talking to Peyton and Eli. Thank goodness for Mama Jones or Chris would have definitely gone to OM to worship at the House of Freeze.

Chris' dad wanted him at OM. OM was paying his dad a bunch of money. Thankfully, his mom wanted him at State because we were the first school to offer him and stayed on him, and we paid her a lot of money. You know for Freeze being such a great recruiter, he missed on a lot of kids because he never would try to win over the mother. And this was before the prostitutes thing, which again, WAS NOT FOR HIM. He was cheating on his wife, but it was with a hairdresser from Hernando. Not callgirls from Tampa.

Didn't we have a recruit years ago visit Ole Miss with his mother and they sent the girl to the wrong room, instead of to the recruit's room?

Yeah, had he not said they were for him, that would've been interstate trafficking of prostitution for minors...he would have been in the (non-white collar) popo...smart move on his part. I'm still not sure why the authorities didn't investigate that any further.

The fact that two and two were never put together on that is still shocking. I still can't believe he fell on the sword for OM either. Hugh has always and will always be about Hugh. After they threw him under the bus, I fully expected him to come out swinging and throw EVERYONE under the bus.

Not hard to figure out that Hugh gets a big recruit in Tampa and the escorts were hired at the same time. Also, didn't flight records show Hugh was in Oxford at the time also?

He knew Ole Miss would swing back. See Houston Nutt.

Everyone with half a brain knows that Freeze got fired by OM because of hookers for recruits and the liability on the school that situation set up. If the hookers were for Hugh himself he would still be there. Also, I'm sure CJ him loved him mostly because of all the booze, parties and tail Freeze was providing him during his frequent trips to Oxford.

Houston Nutt is the reason Hugh was fired. Had OM not drug his name through the mud he would have never hired Tom Mars. His hiring of Tom Mars led to Mars and Steve Robertson striking up a friendship and him giving Steve some of the docs that led to the escort service phone number. I would've been deathly afraid of another coaching swinging back at me if I was OM. Freeze may could've landed the KO punch.

Also, knowing some of the people that know Hugh very well, he also thought there was a chance all that would blow over in a couple of years and they would pivot back to Freeze.
