The good news - Toledo hasn't ran the ball well at all vs inferior teams. Hopefully our defense can gain a little confidence before Florida. Toledo has stopped the run well. I wanna see us be physical this week. If we can est the running game at all, our big play passing game could be really dangerous.

We should win the next 2. Next week I hope in the OL Clicks game

I thought we made a few adjustments in the 2nd half(walking a LB down, gang tackling, filling gaps) that slowed them down in the 2nd half. It will also be good to get Dinkins, Anderson, and Taylor back. We need the DL depth.

I don't expect the defense to improve much. We just don't have the players available. We need the OL/RB play to improve. If it improves, we will at least score points.

I disagree. We should win Toledo and UMass. The Fla game will be a battle

That?s fine, I think the second half team last night beats Florida and we theoretically should get better on offense every game while D can?t get any worse than whatever we did first half last night. Florida has AM next week and might get blown out and have players check out rest of the season

I don't see us beating FL right now. I need to see their new QB next week first.

Yeah, we ain't beating Florida. That was my upset special.

We will have to play MUCH better to beat Florida. Napier wants to run the ball, especially with a big QB who can run. We are going to have our hands full. Having it at home will help, but the crowd will have to be in it and stay in it. And unfortunately, I have seen our 11 AM crowds and they generally leave a lot to be desired.

We need Dinkins, Deonte and Taylor to get healthy enough to rotate in at least. I know they're band aids but I will take all the help we can get.

Heard any ETA on when they're supposed to be back?

Florida changed quarterbacks. They are better now. Probaby much better and more talented than Ole Miss.

Certainly not in the head coaching department.

Deonte and Taylor should be back this week. I would expect Dinkins is out til AT LEAST Florida but maybe a little longer.

Someone said it already but the focus on tackling and being violent at the point of attack on both lines must improve. We don't need 5 stars to be violent or have sounds tackling skills. That coaching and it needs to change yesterday. That game is very different if those two issues were not issues.

So now Taylor is off the team apparently. Good lord, when does it end.

4 (QB was 8/23 175 3 TD
Umass did move the ball pretty good.
QB was 26/40 256 1 & 1. 44yds rushing
Umass had 384 yds 259p - 125R
Toledo has 258 yds 175P - 83R

Umass moved the ball just didnt score.

When Florida comes to Starkville and the cowbells start ringing they will fold. I've lived it in person. Our home field advantage is intimidating to a young team. Our game will be their 1st road game. Florida is in trouble big time against us.

What has UF got to do with Old Mess?

We are really going to need to hit the portal hard for our front 7 this off season. Some of our players are young but I’m not confident this group is good enough to be able to contain any SEC offenses this year. Any SEC games we win it will need to be the offense stepping up. That being said, I don’t think UF has a very good defense so it’s our best chance to get a SEC win this year and we need this game to boost some confidence

By my count we are going to need out of the portal:

QB
at least 2 WR
3 OL
2-3 DL
1 LB
2 DBs

So we are AT LEAST going to need around 10 portal players. It will probably be closer to 15 after we see who portals out.

If we don't improve our tackling all else is a moot point

The poor scheme was a major contributor to the missed tackles. When a 250 lb running back can run the first 5 yards without any contact and builds up a head of steam he becomes MUCH more difficult to tackle.
