Great to be back in the stadium, even if a little wet, and see football again. Good to see us take care of business and look good, for the most part, doing it.

1. This offense can score, and will score in bunches. I liked the tempo and the shots we took. I think we slowed the tempo considerably after it started raining and dialed back the shots. I think the rain probably cost us 14-21 pts.

2. Shapen is legit. Obviously it is just the first game, but he looked like he had great command of the offense and knew when it was time to take shots. Really solid pocket presence and seemed to know when the right time to take off was. Would like to see him slide instead of taking the punishment, especially once the competition ramps up.

3. RBs were just ok. Maybe it had something to do with the weather, but we put the ball on the ground too many times yesterday. Also looked like our backs struggled to hit the holes at times. I think we need to go ahead and go full time to Booth and have him get the lionshare of the carries.

4. Our new and returning receivers are going to be A PROBLEM. Coleman and Craver are some of the quickest WRs we have ever had, Mosley seems to have gained confidence as well as improved and Creed is Creed.

5. The concerns are still there for the defense. The DL failed to get much of a push and the secondary is learning on the fly it seems. Maybe we were vanilla with the playcalling but we need to be able to pressure the QB.

6. Special teams, outside of a shank, is night and day. Coleman in the return game is ELITE and having a kicker who puts it in the end zone is nice.

7. The students showed up, showed out, and stayed during the rain. The rest of the fans, for the most part, didn?t show up, show out, and bailed when the rain hit. Probably the worst opening day crowd I can ever remember.

8. Lebby lived up to the Swag is State moniker. Was out there coaching in Yeezys and a hat that didn?t have some giant ass M-State or gaudy Adidas logo on it. Gone are the days of Croom coaching in an oversized polo and golf shoes.

9. We need to play better and be ready to go to war next Saturday night. We are still better than Arizona St, but they have improved.

Good post Steve.

Next Saturday will be a good little measuring stick. ASU ain't a pushover. It might be a shootout.

The only time I was cussing was when it rained and that's because we needed to score as many points as possible for perception purposes.

In regards to #6 how many times did we kickoff into the end zone? I was at the game and lose track of details but I thought we gave them too many opportunities for returns.

Analytically unless someone that is Devin Hester caliber is returning the kick you want to kick the ball to the 1 and try to force a return. It gives you a better chance to pin a team inside the 20.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but with Number 9 why do you think we are better than Arizona State?

Our talent profile is better. We have multiple former 4 stars on our roster, a QB who has competed in, and won, and P5 conference championship game, and multiple transfers with P5 playing experience. They just have a bunch of transfers

?They just have a bunch of transfers?

If this is supposed to be a negative I have bad news

It is supposed to be a negative in the sense that our transfers have accomplished something. Outside of a couple of guys, Elliot at LB and Fiaseu at LB, they have nothing more than depth pieces. We have 3 starters just on offense that were starting at the P5 level last year.

Again, we are a better team. Our talent profile is better, we have the better play caller, and better skill players at every position. We should win this game by 2 TDs
