No one is allowed to watch scrimmages so there isn't going to be much info. Just the way Lebby wants it I guess

I personally am glad about that. I still remember the 2019 scrimmage I was at and watched Tommy Stevens make a throw fading away off his back foot and put it on a dot. I was convinced we were about to light the world on fire and win 9 games.......boy was I wrong. Now maybe his injury had something to do with that, but I didn't see much of that Tommy Stevens ever again after that scrimmage. I also thought Cam Gardner was about to be a stud receiver for us.....so wrong on that one too

I think there's a certain balance to be had when giving the media access and letting info get out.
Moorhead let everyone see every thing and stuff like the Stevens stuff happened because of it. But this tight lipped, "no one can know anything" approach we've got isn't good either. You can't come in shouting "Showtime" and then not give anyone anything until the 1st game.

In the pre NIL days, I would disagree with you. However, these guys are getting paid, people want to see how their investment is looking.

I hope that once full injury reports are mandatory that will reduce some of the privacy.
I get closing practice during team periods. But open it for some drills.

There’s is no financial ROI in the NIL for most people. If someone could figure out how to make that a possibility they would change the game…again

The ROI is being able to brag that they "paid" for that specific player. There's no financial gain and probably never will be.

I heard nobody really stood out and it looked very average. Now I will say that’s not necessarily unusual in a 1st scrimmage in a new system

I feel like Lebby kind of alluded to that in his press conference. He seemed kind of pissed. I think he wants, and probably needs, the offense to be ahead of where they are currently for us to have success this year. It's like we have all said, we're going to have to win some shootouts to have success this year.

Prepare to be disappointed - I heard the SEC was thinking about only mandating the injury report be published 90 minutes before game time on game day. I hope there's more to it than that.

It's amazing to me that no matter what offense we run we struggle with it.

We didn't struggle, we just didn't play clean. It'll take a few games to gel it all together with all these new guys and new offense but we weren't close to struggling.

Basically every NFL preseason practice is open to the public. Dont know why college practices cant be open

Because every single NFL coach is a retread so every other team knows what their schemes are any way. If a coach gets fired in the NFL, either Chicago, Cleveland, Washington, the Jets, the Cardinals. The Falcons, the panthers or Jacksonville is going to hire them. In college you have guys like job hunting Mullen who has a great situation but wants the so- called dream job which he gets and gets fired from and can't get another school in the higher echelon to hire him. So the young guys particularly close practices to a) keep others from spying, and b) others to see what kind of talent they can recruit, and c) because they don't like Monday morning QBs QBing all 7 days.
