Auger began his college career at Hinds (Miss.) CC in 2021 before transferring to Mississippi State and blowing out his elbow in April 2022. He missed all of last season following Tommy John surgery and was used as a reliever for much of 2024, though he wowed scouts by striking out 13 in an eight-inning start against Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference tournament. Employing a high-three quarters delivery, he get plenty of chases with four different pitches. He primarily works with a 92-94 mph fastball that hits 97 and a mid-80s slider, and his fading mid-80s changeup and upper-80s cutter also show promise. He's nearly 23 but will be sought after as a discount possibility after recording a 3.35 ERA with a 50/17 K/BB ratio in 45 2/3 innings as a redshirt junior.
