We could potentially still poach him from there unless OSU decides to start caring about baseball.

I was told Haire wouldn't take out job. Guess C34 will now claim Ohio state is a better job than us

He needs to prove he can do it at a level up from where he was. If he turns Ohio State around then we can still poach him if Lemonis falls flat next year.

He from up that way isn't he? He'll retire there

Yeah he could for sure. With it only being a year tho- we could poach him if Lemon fails to make a Regional in 25

Ohio State could be a sleeping giant in baseball. The question is whether they want to be.

He left Campbell because they committed suicide with a conference change.
But at least now you can judge Haire by bigger results.

Actually glad this happened for Haire. We can still pull him if we want to. And with conference realignment Big 10 baseball is going to be slightly better.
This is a very similar career arc as Link Jarrett.

They don't want to be. If you are an Ohio State fan your options are the Reds, Guardians, and maybe the Pirates and Tigers depending on where you live.
Or Big 10 baseball.

Look no further than how EMPTY the B10 tournament is every year. They really need to move it out of Omaha. It's embarrassing for it to be in that nice of a stadium and there be 300 people there for some of the games. And even the well attended games are Omaha locals mostly.

There are lots of NFL, NBA, MLS, and NHL teams in the Midwest too, and that doesn't stop the Big 10 from being one of the top 2-3 conferences in all of those men's sports, both in quality of team and level of fan support. For whatever reason, the Big 10 has just decided it doesn't care about being good at baseball and getting the fans out, even though Ohio State could average half of what the AAA team in Columbus draws and still be one of the higher NCAA teams in attendance.

I think this has been mentioned somewhere, but you aren't getting the Big 10 or Big East or any other conference north of Tennessee except for Kentucky to be interested in college baseball as long as the season starts in February or even March.

Yep. The conference simply isn't going to invest in it. They'll be competing with the American and Sun Belt for prestige.

put us out of their regional years ago. We didn't last long at all. Our team is about equivalent to a B10 type school. We've fallen a long ways, and it's hard to see us ever making it back again.

We aren't going after him without missing on a few guys first. I can't see it happening.

You're not likely to get him after only one year.

I love college baseball and would like to see the game grow. To grow it in Big 10 territory the start needs to be moved back a month. Conference play should start after the final four and the CWS should be in mid July. Feb games are miserable in Starkvegas, they're much worse in Columbus, Ohio. Other than MLB, there's little going in July or August.

From my fan standpoint, I wish there was a way to move both football and baseball back a month. It may just be me but I have no problem at a baseball game when it's 100 outside nor do I have a problem at a football game when it's 30. I still haven't decided which is more miserable to me though, baseball while it's in the 30's or football when it's in the 90's.

I do think the July/August lack of any college sports is miserable.
Instead of late February through end of June, why not expand the season by a few weeks, and make baseball late March though the end of August? It would be a bit of a concession to the Big 10, but not a complete one, and you'd also get to play more conference games instead of just playing 10 of our now 15 conference opponents.
It would kill the summer college wood bat leagues, but who really cares?

Someone remind Ohio State on their historical performance for the last 25 years. ***
