Guy is almost guaranteed 2.5 million as a floor from the draft but is going to LSU instead.
But yeah- Lemon is our problem in baseball

I had heard he was a 3rd rd pick. If his number was 2.5 then he had no choice but to go to LSU. No team is going to give a HS 2.5 in the 3rd round. I mean he may be the no. 10 HS prospect, but most services have him ranked any the low 100s overall.

He's not a top 10 prospect.
Ranked 117 by MLB. 120 by another site. Good player, but let's not act like he's a lottery pick. He probably had a high asking price and he's not going to get it.
We've got a guy ranked 99 that has a decent chance of coming to school. They're also working on Dante Nori who is ranked 47.

Nori seems interesting to make campus. Polished hitter that will be 21 in two years. So he can play himself into the 1st round and lose no ground in the minor by coming to MSU.
Nori looks like he could fight and whip all 35 Vitello Roid Kids

Nori would be a big get. From what i've heard we have a decent shot at him making it to campus right now. I really hate saying a kid is a sure fire great d1 player but this kid is as close as there is. He will be a starter for us from day 1. He's one of those kids if you knew nothing about him and went to a game he was in, you'd spot him as a star immediately.

He is graduating HS , not too far from legal drinking age.
He should look stout, for a HS kid.

May be less about Lemonis magic, than he is 20 years old in HS, and that affects his HS draft slot.

At one point we had like 6 out of the top 10 national HS kids commited. People forget recruiting under Cohen left alot to be desired at times also. Recruiting is a fickle monster sometimes. I will say this, I have seen JG and even Fox on the trail over the last 3 years, never seen Lem. Of course, I've seen tons of Scott Brown and never Corbs either. But lost track how many times I've seen Tony V face to face- I can't stand him, but that guy is relentless.

This!
And the fact we did lose recruits over the past year, is where we are at.
We are paying now for the Laziness.
Back to the original post, it has nothing to do with "not being them".
Vitello when he took over TN "was not them" either. But he recruited his tail off, and made great evaluations. He built the program.
Anyone saying (and they have here) that TN has more $$ than us this year, are intentionally leaving out that Vitello took a program with low support, and built it.
No excuses.

Not that I disagree with your post totally, but two things:
1. Some of that top 10 is always over hyped fluff and needed to be "lost"- but not as many as we have
2. Vitello had blank checks and full syringe day one. He also insanely over recruits and roster churns like no one else. UT had made the decision to be relevant again in baseball. FACT. BUT, he does work his butt off, will not take that away from him.

I've seen Lemonis at Perfect Game events, other showcase events and plenty of National Championship tournaments in summer ball, heck I've seen him at the Stringer Spring break tournament with Fox and Goat. The idea that he doesn't go recruit is to hyped.

That's what Bobby Cox said about his 1st overall pick of Chipper Jones in 1990.
When the scouts took him to the game, "If you have to point him out, then he is not a 1st overall pick."

Yep I remember reading that. Its so true too. If you go to enough games and watch players a lot of them just kind of blend together and kinda look the same, then some cat walks up there and the swing is fast and powerful and the ball comes off his bat different or he makes some great play in the field or a cannon like throw and you just go "Whoa, thats a player!"

He was 15 then and he sat 84-85 and topped at 86. Threw a one hitter through 6 innings(no runs, 8ks) against Tri State Arsenal from New Jersey(Mike Trouts old travel team). Took him out and we lost in the 7th 2-1.

There are 2 sounds - the ball leaving the bat and the ball travelling the zone and hitting a mit - that when the make you say "damn", you know. Facing Kris Benson was the first time I heard it in person. That wiissssssssssPOP. Never saw the ball. Shane Monahan was the first bat I heard - almost like a gunshot compared to the regular "tink" of an Eatson Green label.

Yep, 100%! That sizzle and pop from a high end fastball is awesome! Those sounds are so unmistakeable. Sometimes you're not even watching and you hear those sounds and look up and go who did that, wow?!

We have the same exact issue with all of our Big 4 programs but the funny thing here is you didn't give Leach a pass on it. If this is going to be our excuse going forward we might as well just drop to a G5 and say to hell with it. Fans are sick of this shit and you can only get so much blood from a turnip.

I worked at a company whose home office was Atlanta. I had to go there often and I made as many Braves games as possible. We would go early to watch batting practice, off day pitchers work and have lunch in the outfield restarurant pregame.
I was at a table with about 10 other company guys having a blast shooting the shit when all of a sudden we heard a CRACK!!! that just hit different and we all just stopped talking and took a walk to the wall to see who was hitting batting practice. It was Big CAT!!! That dude hit a balll and it was so different from anyone I had ever heard before or since. This was mid 90's or so I would guess.

Two things can be true at once. Lemonis did great with someone else's talent and won a national championship. He also sucked with a mix of the talent and his own talent. We were markedly better this year. Hopefully that improvement continues. It's ok to be worried about the direction of the program. It's also ok to not be satisfied with a road regional final as the culmination of the season. It's also ok to say that we improved this year and have gotten some solid pieces out of the portal early on.
