I posted on another thread about SC, and said the same about Nolan being rumored to SC and they were building a great staff of assistant coaches if they get him.
You said I was spinning it, and they were hiring a coach from LSU.

But I agree that Gotro is recruiting right now for us, but that still would not mean anything if he was to leave.
It's not like Lemonis is gonna run all over the place and do it.

Money (everybody in the SEC is paying top dollar to players compared to other programs around the country), Lexington over StarkVegas, distance from home- you dont have to travel as far now to play in good programs, turf vs real dirt (some infielders prefer playing on turf for the true bounces)....

Most ballparks have the same amenities at this point. And most of these kids really don't care about the crowds. They're going to play in front of big crowds anyways in the SEC. And then there's Lexington vs Starkville. Lexington has a cool downtown area, bourbon trails, horse racing. Starkville has a TopGolf simulator and a few bars.


The perception of Starkville is killing us at the end of the day. For the longest time, we buried our heads in the sand and pretended it didn't matter.....well shocking plot twist. IT DOES.

Kentucky pays FAR more than us to their basketball program and probably spends double what we do on football.

I find it odd to think we'd build a massive stadium, pack out that stadium, pay too dollar four our HC, pay enough for a PC to poach him from another SEC school... but then refuse to pay more than Kentucky for a baseball player? It just doesn't add up. Like A&M has more money than God, but Kentucky has other priorities occupying their resources. Bama and Auburn also don't spend the resources on baseball that we do

We saw posts all year "almost", and "look how we are historically", or "well look how we compare in the middle of the pack". I get some of the reasoning but it was beaten to death.
Without the driver(or 2 or 3), we will always be saying "we did pretty good for Starkville"

Seems many are blaming anything but Lemonis and some others to get a fire under him in the past few years and sell his vision.

I heard some TN fans at a dinner in Knoxville a few weeks ago talking about campuses and they said "who wants to go to Oxford. That is such a hard place to get to from here, and who in their right mind wants to go to that sunken area".
They did not think Starkville was that remote, since the associate driving toward Birmingham and then a short drive on highways to Starkville.

So from the east Starkville is much easier access than Oxford, in some opinions.

Lemonis should be recruiting very well , but instead has lost commitments the past 3-4 years.

Then you have to look at what these other schools employ within the baseball program for guys to be portal analysts/roster management guys as well.

I really dont think many of ours fans realized that Lemon's pay isnt even in the Top half of the SEC. They think its still 1997
