South Carolina Mods said early on that they knew if Tanner called Lemonis, he would be interested to return to SC.
Lemonis was passed over by choices of other HC's who said no, and the current assistant(fired at Clemson), and was never called home.

Tanner as AD is looking like a Cohen AD.

Please name one other coach in the country who has a resume close to that. I think it is a weird hire and I would not want him here but it is not a terrible hire. He was hired to be their Henderson since they struck out on whoever else if I had to guess. If they knew Kingston was not the guy there is no point in holding on to him. Manieri will right the ship for his buddy Tanner until they get their guy.

Yes it is weird. Because he is already 70 you have to wonder how long he would actually be there. This is the kind of a hire a school like Arkansas State should make to generate interest in the program. But a SEC school? Really bizarre. He might retire before his first class is there for four years. I just don't see how you recruit with that if you are South Carolina.

I don't want to get my hopes up here but IF South Carolina hires Cain I would think that there is a chance that Schlossnagle would go after Gautreau for Cain's spot. Schlossnagle was very close to Jake and Cann and if we remember one of the caveats at the time of hiring Schlossnagle was that we would get to keep Gautreau.

Also, Jake is originally from Houston. And not Houston Hilltoppers Mississippi. Houston Astros Texas.

He took over in 2007. LSU won the West in 2005. Smoke took them to the CWS in 2003 and 2004. Smoke had 1 bad year- 2006. And they were still 35-24 that year
