Or, we're playing in post season for the first time in 3 years.
Just saying.

I've still yet to see more than 3 people including you speak of this "state standard."

I get trolling is your thing, but I'm not sure anyone cares about this one

There is no current standard. That went out the window with the portal the portal/nil and now unlimited portal/nil. What we have done in the past is just that in the past. Show we can do it in the current environment and then it becomes the new state standard.

Lot of people don’t get this.

Why? The old standard remains until a new one takes over. We are full swing NIL era and in regional finals. Not everything is doom and gloom

It's a thin line. Lose tonight or tomorrow, and Lemonis hasn't been very impressive. Win both games and make a super regional, his resume looks outstanding.
That's sports in a nutshell these days.

We came close to the "standard", but didn't quite hit it. We needed to either host or make it out of a regional. Came close (game 2 vs UVA always the real key to the regional) but didn't quite make either.

But missing the standard is fine! If it's an every now and then thing. But we lose like EVERYONE for next year and the Fr class has shown no signs of being replacements -let alone upgrades- over who we have. Portaging in 1 Purdue or 1 Ledbetter is achievable, but finding 2 starting pitchers and replacing Mershon, Jordan, Hines, Hujsak? That's just not going to happen.

So what we have isn't that this season was a "normal" year, this season was the "up" year for Lemo. He missed Hoover 2 years, just missed hosting and lost a regional 1 year, and we'll be worse next year. That's my issue; we aren't "building". There is no bright future under Lemo unless recruiting and hitting coaching and in game management get better

Must of missed the part where he's won multiple? Because he's not winning another one while he's here

2nd worst 3-year stretch of the last 50 years (better than 2008 - 2010). Pathetically below standards.

Keep riding that championship. It's clearly done so much for the program and your coach.

Any success we should've reaped from that championship was and is totally lost. Yet you think he's the man for the job still?

This is the thing that bothers me the most. We completely missed the moment to take advantage of a situation.

The way things are going with recruiting/development(especially hitters) he won't even sniff another title.

Oh you got that predicted Nostradamus?

To be clear: I predict Lemonis will not win another national championship as the head coach of Mississippi State Baseball.

I wish he would win more but I just don?t see it.

Regional final LOL

Nice troll

For the record, if anyone was actually serious, boasting that of the last 8 regionals we actually made, we avoided finishing 3rd or 4th in any of them is a bit like saying that Mississippi State basketball has played in an NCAA Tournament game in every year they have ever been selected.

Actually its saying they won a game every year because a Regional Final is the round of 32. We would love for basketball to win a game every year in the NCAA Tourney

Way to go out on that limb there Croom. We have one natty in school history in every sport combined.

Corbin is a great coach- has 2 in 22 seasons
Van Horn has none in 27 seasons with Nebraska and UPig
Vitello is 0'fer so far. We'll see how he does with this year's chance
Sully has 1 in 17 seasons
McDonnell has none

They are sooooo damn hard to get

In and of itself nothing wrong with this season. Problem is making a road regional and losing on the heels of 2 really bad seasons where we don't even make the SEC tournament plus the fact that next season looks quite bleak. But regardless, Lemonis absolutely did what he needed to do this season to return next season and we will go from there. I fully agree that those wanting to fire Lemonis right now are just wasting their breath.

If a basketball program with a national title, another final four, multiple elite 8s and more sweet 16s in the last decade was bragging about how they got to the round of 32 this year, thus meeting their standard, they'd be laughed at. Especially if that Round of 32 was coming on the heels of back-to-back missing the tournament altogether. Anyone can be forgiven for only getting to the round of 32 in a down year, but it can't be the best in a 3-year stretch when the program has historically done so much more.

Using any stat that uses consecutive regionals but omits those where we did not even make it is entirely useless. That is my point.

Improvement was seen this year. Tough sledding in the NIL era.

The standard changed under cohen. It's not an all time history standard. It's a modern era standard.

If it were all time history, our football standard is 5-7. It's not, it changed under Dan (and arguably could change again as the landscape changes).
