Encourage him to look elsewhere and if he refuses, Foxhall his ass.

-Our hitting stats are all bottom half of the league across the board.

-Our approaches are terrible. We foul off center cut 90 mph fastballs and whiff on anything that breaks. Pretty much every hitter encounters a 2 strike count at some point in the AB. I've never seen anything like it. Hey, we tap dat chest with 2 strikes tho..

-He managed to take Hunter Hines, a .300 hitter his first two seasons with 20+ HR potential and regress him into a .240 hitter with a near 30% K rate. Yes he had a bomb tonight, but the regression has been ridiculous. DJ didn't regress but didn't come close to what he was capable of.

-He (and Lemon) have failed as recruiters because half our lineup aren't SEC hitters. Larry? Nah. Chance? At times, but not really. Long/Powell? Hell nah. Kohler? Nerp. We've got a bunch of slappers who go up there and play defense with their bat instead of smashing the ball. Downs backwards K'ing looking to walk instead of being a hero tells me all I need to know.

Lemon needs to make this happen or be gone himself. He earned himself another year, but our hitting was a complete liability this year so it needs to be addressed. He went out and got Parker which literally saved his ass. Now go do the same with a hitting coach that can recruit, coach, and develop good hitters. Tick, tock.

It won't fix the real problem. But he's proven he can't evaluate talent a bit

Sacrifice another asst coach to keep bucket man. No I've seen enough of this. He should have seen we couldn't hit before the season started and fixed it. He's basically the Ed Orgeron of MSU baseball. Send him packing and pony up to get a real coach in here

How many hitters have developed at MSU?

There should be a natural progression in most cases. Sure some guys don't but in general most guys do.

With Gautreau everyone is the same guy they are as a freshman or when they got here.

Well he did fix the pitching issue which is why we're in a regional. What kind of year would we have had with better hitting?

Lemonis is always only going to be as good as his assistants.

I wouldn't care if we fired Lemonis tomorrow or not but like last year this seems like an easier fix than blowing up everything.

It's not a fix and it's a rebuild next year anyway. Cut bait and move on. But we all know that won't happen. Lemonis can't even put together a proper lineup or recruit. Next year while we struggle, everyone will be ready to fire him.

I think with the portal we're going to see massive roster turnover throughout the league. Which sucks for me because now every year I get to read about how we lose everyone but we'll get new players through the portal.

At what point does Lemonis get the finger pointed at him for recruiting. Talent helps , and he was lazy after the national championship game.
Why are we not pointing at him today for the hitting talent up and down the lineup.

I am. There are too many holes in our lineup and our bench is terrible. But I can also see if DJ and HH were having normal to above normal year, as they should be, things would be a lot better. I don’t know how many times DJ has come up with runners on and whiff, but it seems a ton to me.

Having a completely different team year to year takes some fun out of it for me. I enjoy seeing some kids progress from year to year. On the other hand, the advantage is you can flip a roster in a couple months.

I agree. I don't get the fire geaut, and yet extend Lemonis. It is his lineup and recruiting(or lack thereof).
If Geaut is fired, then show should Lemonis at this point. Otherwise, what does Lemonis do all day.

I’m not a hire and fire type person. I agreed with others that Lemonis should make a regional as a floor to keep his job. We didn’t build the best college baseball stadium for mediocre performance on the field and we are not paying Lemonis top pay for mediocre performance. We didn’t build the new Dude for it to sit empty in July. Baseball is of huge importance to our fan base. Whether it is or not as others here believe be a club sport. College baseball would not be as big as it is if not for our fan base showing up to games in huge numbers in the early Polk years. Other universities took note and started drawing huge crowds and building huge/nice stadiums ie; LSU, Arkansas, Vandy, Texas Am. I guarantee at those schools it is way more important than a club sport.

Selmon needs to take a very hard look at the direction of our program. And realize the importance of college baseball at MSU.

Agree. I am being a smart a$$ here , but next thing you know, he will be both our CEO coach, and our "minister of culture".

Hasn't worked out for us since it started. Our NIL isn't getting it done and we haven't recruited a base to which we can start. There's no way we can afford the quality and numbers we need next year due to our poor recruiting. You have to maintain a developmental program to go with the portal & we have not. The best teams aren't adding double digit transfers to start and it's a terrible strategy.

This. There is a point the HC is the responsible party for the composition of the team, and roster evaluations.
And something that may or may not matter in NIL in baseball, is if you have a CEO coach(which I was not aware he was that until after he was hired and started losing games), then you better have a CEO coach with charisma for generating NIL, fan support$$$, and a culture that attracts talented players who want to play for that coach and his vision.

How is Lemonis getting a free pass?

And blaming parker for last night is ridiculous , when if the team could have scored on St. John's enough we would not have had to waste our best closer. Parker got all he could out of our 2 best arms in 2 games, and our offense could not give some breathing room.

I wonder sometimes if a different HC is needed to generate this $$$ and overall energy by certain alumni.
And a HC that is hands on with their vision and charisma that the team follows.
Another thing you hit on, is we need a HC that is a really good evaluator of talent, and not prone to get lazy.

Lemonis being fired is inevitable. It will not happen this year but it will soon. Any non-terrible coach can get one 2 seed in 3 years at State. The longer we wait, the more mediocrity or flat out poor play we will have to endure.

Wishful thinking on my part that he takes the Citadel job this off season.

Lemo likes State. He?ll de what he can to rescue the program. If he can?t through the portal next year, he?s done. The circular thinking of ?We need big time HS guys so we can compete? and ?we don?t have enough money to pull anyone from the portal? is asinine. If you don?t have enough to pull from the portal then you also don?t have enough to secure your top HS talent for their duration of college. If we can?t expect to pay for top talent out of the portal, we can?t expect to pay top talent to retain it after we have developed it. You either have the money for both or for none. There?s outliers that will stay no matter what, but those will grow fewer as bucks get bigger.

Yep, its a whole different dynamic these days. Guys that would have come to State for partial scholarship money and to play in front of big crowds will forgo that to get more NIL money from somewhere else. Certainly takes away some of the recruiting advantage we've had in the past.

Guys getting partial scholarships are not getting big NIL money anywhere. The NIL excuse for baseball is just that. We have enough funds to compete - maybe not to pull Paul Skenes, but to build a plenty talented enough team.
